Statement From Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-

Cousins
“I congratulate my friend and colleague, Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer, on her selection to be
the Democratic nominee to fill the Senate District 37 vacancy. Shelley has been a tireless
advocate for her constituents, and she is a deserving successor to former-Senator and current-
County Executive George Latimer. She will be an invaluable member of the Senate Democratic
Conference and with her support we will be able to finally take action on ensuring New Yorkers
have access to good paying jobs, real mandate and tax relief, high-quality public education, and
affordable health care. I hope a Special Election is called as soon as possible so Shelley Mayer
can hit the ground running and give the hundreds of thousands of Westchester residents the
representation they deserve.”
