Abbreviation OSU, the Ohio State University is a Large, mostly residential, co-ed public

University in Columbus, Ohio. Including the price of room and board, books and supplies, and other fees,

in state tuition for Ohio State University is $25,539 and out of state tuition is $44,731.

Founded in 1870 as a land grant university by Rutherford B. Hayes, Ohio State was the ninth

university in Ohio. Originally known as the Ohio Agricultural and Mechanical College located on the

northern edge of Columbus, Ohio State began with a focus on Agriculture and mechanical studies.

Under the direction of Rutherford B. Hayes, the university first opened its doors on September 17th,

1873 to 24 students. Since then, America's Flagship Public Universities listed Ohio State as one of a

select number of public universities offering the highest educational quality and the U.S. News & World

Report ranked Ohio State as tied for the 16th-best public university in the United States.

Popular majors at OSU include Business/marketing, Engineering, and social sciences. OSU's

School of Music contains several high quality concert bands consisting of graduate and undergraduate

music majors and non-music majors. The OSU Wind Symphony, frequently receives praise on the

national level, having been selected to perform at the 2003 College Band Directors National Association

Convention. Studying abroad is also offered at Ohio State. It costs $60 to apply to Ohio State and the

deadline for applications is February 1st. Early action is offered and the deadline is November first. The

average unweighted GPA for admittance into Ohio State is 3.60 and weighted is 3.91. The average SAT

score is a 1330 and the average ACT score is a 29. More than 50% of freshmen were in the top 10% of
their high school class and scored over 1230 on the SAT I or over 26 on the ACT; about 60% or fewer of

all applicants accepted. Extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and work experience are also seriously

considered in the application process. The National Buckeye Scholarship for non-Ohio residents provides

$12,500 a year for tuition totaling a $50,000 four year value Those considered are non-Ohio residents

who rank in the top 25 percent of their graduating classes and have an ACT composite score of 29 or

higher or SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math score equivalent of 1350 or higher. The

hall, and Canfield hall. Some living environments in the residence halls and dorms at OSU include the

Substance-Free environment for students who agree to abstain completely from the use of alcohol,

drugs and tobacco both on and off campus. This is a special living community that promotes the

development of a healthy lifestyle. The two most popular meal plans at OSU are the unlimited plan and

the scarlet 14. The unlimited plan lets you have as many meals as you want for $1905. The scarlet 14 lets

you have 14 unlimited meals and to-go meals a week for $2325. Some meal halls at OSU include

Traditions at Kennedy, Traditions at Morrill, and Traditions at Scott. Some fraternities at OSU include

Alpha Gamma Sigma which is a national social and professional agricultural fraternity that is located on

the OSU. Omega Delta Sigma National Veterans Fraternity, also known as ODS, is a leadership and

service based Co-ed fraternity also located on Ohio State’s campus. Another social aspect of OSU would

be Attending Football games on Saturdays at the Ohio state stadium. This could also include tailgating

and attending the Ohio state skull session. The marching band is a longstanding tradition at Ohio State
and it is the largest all-brass and percussion band in the world the marching band Performs at skull

sessions and halftime on football game days.
