This report describes a situation caused by the acquisition of a few gold clocks that should replace the old
ones in Bucharest. As they were not cheap, it caused a lot of people to have different opinions and in this
case, a survey was carried out.

Recently, Bucharest has been renewed with ten new very expensive gold clocks that are supposed to make
the city more beautiful. Some of these watches have already been installed and throughout the city you
can see either a bulkier, stronger version, or a slimmer, more elegant one, however they are all inscribed
with the year 1459, which is the year Bucharest was founded. These pricey ornaments present two high
quality crystal lids and 24 karat gold letters that spell the word “Bucharest” along with other decorations
made from the same material. The gold watches needed revision and repair, fulfilling the aesthetic and
functional needs and creating a pleasant classy scenery on site.

The time telling machines have a set of 30 built-in songs programmed to play every quarter, 30 minutes
and hour, offering the possibility to be turned off during night time so that they will not be noise polluting.
They are located in Constitutiei Square, Traian Street, Vitan Way, Foisorul de Foc, Urmuzache Square, the
Botanical Garden, Unirii Boulevard, Iancului Square, Baba Novac, Bucur Obor, Carol Park, Sfantul
Gheorghe Square, Cismigiu Park, The Circus Park, Herastrau Park, Tineretului Park, University Square,
Romana Square and Unirii Square.

As a result of having these stunning qualities, the price was very high and still, the Bucharest City Hall kept
their idea of purchasing these jewels. The high price caused people to react differently, evidences showing
that 6% thought that the money should have been used for other problems that were far more important
and 8% did not want to answer.

However, the recent survey that has been done shows that a majority of 73% of the people that were
questioned are finding the solution of replacing the old gold clocks with these expensive new ones is an
excellent idea. Not only Bucharest will have functional street clocks again, but they will also help make
the city look better, landscape speaking. The rest of 13% were not sure whether this intention was a good
or a bad one, as the purchase of these fancy clocks was not the main priority and the money spent on
them could have been used for renewing medical devices or creating better conditions for studying in
schools, old matters that are still unsolved to this day.

In conclusion, at first glance, buying these gold decorated items seems like a good idea to make Bucharest
young again and most people agree with it. Despite this, we should ask ourselves if we really needed this
or if it is something done just to impress the public.
