Dear Usec. Gongona:

This has reference to the Damage and Loss Assessment (DALA) conducted in provinces affected
by Typhoon Urduja occurred last December 13-16, 2017.
Based on submitted reports, the Fisheries Sector incurred a total of 105.58 Million Pesos damage
and losses in Eastern Visayas specifically in provinces of Biliran, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern
Samar and Leyte. Herewith are the damages per sub sector to wit:
AQUACULTURE FISHERIES:

 No. of Municipalities affected : 54 municipalities

 Total fishponds affected with stocks : 422 hectares
 Total fish cages with stocks : 97 cages
 Total Seaweed Farms affected : 360 hectares
 Total Shellfish Farms affected : 63.6 hectares
TOTAL DAMAGE AND LOSSESS : Php 78,464,437
CAPTURE FISHERIES:
 No. of Municipalities affected : 37 municipalities
 No. of damaged boats/bancas : 289 units
 No. of damaged fishing gears : 3,920 units including 50 Fish Corrals
and 8 units Payao
TOTAL DAMAGE AND LOSSES : Php 16,412,860
POST HARVEST:
 Fish Dryer : Php 12, 000

Damage and losses to BFAR Facilities amounted to Php 10,723,840 including two (2) units BFAR
Patrol Boats and Tilapia Hatchery in Biliran, partially damaged Regional Fisheries Training Centers
in Catbalogan City and collapsed fishpond perimeter dikes in Northern Samar and Leyte
Production Centers with breeders and fingerlings stocks.
