**The pattern is written using the terms ‘larger’ and ‘smaller’ needles. If you are knitting for a 12-13”doll use DK yarn
and 4mm (larger) and 3¼ mm (smaller) needles as listed in materials. For the 10-11” doll use 4-ply yarn and 3 ¼ mm
(larger)and 2 ¾ mm (smaller) needles. For the 8-9” doll use 3-ply yarn and 2 ¼ mm needles throughout (no larger or
smaller)**

Tension (in st-st) please note that US equivalent yarns above are comparisons with UK yarns – if in doubt always
check your tension!
3-ply: 32 stitches and 40 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 3 1/4 mm (US 3) needle.
4-ply: 28 stitches and 36 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 3 1/4 mm (US 3)needle.
Double knitting: 22 stitches and 30 rows to 10 cm. (4 inches) on a 4 mm (US 6) needle.

Coat (knitted in one piece to Row 1: K4, *K2tog, yon, K1, yon, Change to contrast colour and

Hood
Join shoulder seams. Sew sleeve
seams. Pin sleeves in place and
sew seams. Using larger needles
and main colour, pick up and K
9sts up rh neck, K 12sts from
holder, pick up and K 9sts down
neck.

Fold hood in half and join seam.
Band and Hood edging
Using contrast colour and smaller
needles pick up and K 40sts up rh
front, pick up and K 22sts up hood
to top seam of hood, 22sts from
top seam to hood end, pick up and
K 40sts down left hand front.

Making up
Fold over bottom picot edge and
sew in place. Sew buttons on
button band. Thread ribbon
through sleeve eyelets to tie.
Thread ribbon through eyelet holes
in main coat and sew in place at
each end.

Work in st-st for 23 rows.
Change to smaller needles and
work 4 rows of K1, P1 rib. Cast
off in rib.
Making up
Join back seam of body from rib to
crotch (row with markers). Sew
leg seams to bottom. Making sure
that foot is correctly aligned
(folded flat so shaping is ‘foot-
shaped’, join bottom foot seam.
Thread shirring elastic under
raised knit rows of inside rib and
fasten off to desired length. Thread
ribbon through eyelets of ankle to
tie.
