8.1.3 ORDERING OF SPARE PARTS

8.1.3.1 A comprehensive parts list is included in the manual for reference when
ordering spare parts or replacements. The drawings and sketches reproduced in
the manual are for the purpose of illustrating various points in the text or to
assist in identifying spare parts, they need not necessarily agree exactly with the
actual constructional details of the parts involved. In order to avoid mistakes, it
is advisable to use only the terms and expressions used in these instructions.

8.1.3.2 It is particularly important that spare parts orders should include the following
information :-

1. Crane Model
2. Crane work number
3. Assembly for which part is required
4. Parts list assembly number
5. Position number of part required
6. Quantity of parts required
7. Description of part required
8. Material number of part

8.1.3.3 Careful attention to correct ordering is always important as omission of essential

information will inevitably cause delay and even lead to incorrect parts being
supplied.

8.1.6 HOW TO READ LIEBHERR SCHEMATIC
DIAGRAMS
8.1.6.1 THE SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM

The schematic diagram shows the following main features:

- Main circuits,
- Auxiliary control circuits for signaling and monitoring,
- Symbols for identifying the electrical equipment, its
component parts and connections.
- Markings of the electric equipment and its terminals.
- References given at or near the equipment / symbol representation as to
where in which section or drawing sheet, the corresponding part of the
equipment or the continuation of the circuitry can be found.

These features are generally sufficient to explain the circuitry and its mode of
operation, as well as to follow through the circuits when tracing a fault.

8.1.6.2 METHOD OF REPRESENTATION

8.1.6.2.1 Circuit Arrangements

The method of representing circuit arrangements in the LIEBHERR

schematic diagrams is to break them down into functional aspects as follows

A. GENERAL, including
- cover sheet, showing lists of schematic diagram nos., part list nos.,
layout diagram nos., etc. for the various switch panels.
- Contents Sheet
- Modifications Sheet
- High Tension Schematics
- Main Supply, Input Schematics,
- General Control Schematics.

E. DERRICK GEAR, Schematics i.e. E1-D12
D. SLEWING GEAR, Schematics i.e. Dl-D5
8.1.6 HOW TO READ LIEBHERR SCHEMATIC
DIAGRAMS
8.1.6.2.1 Circuit Arrangements

Depending on the extent of the circuitry a functional unit may be shown on one or more
sheets.

8.1.6.2.1.1 Main Circuits

The main circuits are generally represented in multi-pole arrangement, see Figure 1.

8.1.6.2.1.2 Control Circuits

The control circuits incorporating conventional switchgear are drawn from the top down
between horizontal potential lines, representing the control and auxiliary supplies, see
Figure 2.

On Electronic Schematics, power supply circuits are mostly dispensed with to

compensate for this, the various potentials are marked immediately adjacent to the
terminals of component and/or equipment. The signal and information flow is generally
from left to right.

8.1.6.2.1.3 Electrical Equipment

Items of electrical equipment and their component parts are donated by symbols and
where necessary, interlinked by lines representing connections.

Switchgear units and contacts are shown in the standard reference position, i.e. in the
non-operating position with NO contacts open and NC contacts closed. Exceptions from
this rule are specifically marked i.e. "Drawn in Fault Position".

Equipment Representations are entered, complete with terminal designations, either in

the main circuits or in the control circuits, (see Figures 1 and 2) and are generally in the
following manner :

- Electrically operated switchgear units (e.g. contactors) in diagram section in which the
operating elements are shown.

- Measuring devices in the schematics which include their monitoring function.

- Mechanically / manually operated units (e.g. push-buttons, limit switches, etc.) which
include most of their contacts of the most important ones.

Items requiring a complex representation - e.g. cam controller - are generally shown next
to its controlled contact in the control circuit of the schematic diagram.

Complete symbols representing items of equipment, e.g. motors are entered in the
schematic diagram generally only once.
8.1.6 HOW TO READ LIEBHERR SCHEMATIC
DIAGRAMS

8.1.6.3. MARKINGS DESIGNATIONS

The equipment markings are composed as follows :

Primary assignment showing correlation with other parts of the equipment

with regard to location and /or function.

Identification of item :

= Installation Designation
+ Location Designations
- Device Identification

Example 1, part in switch panel.

= S1 + 6H - K1M

= S1 Main Switchgear S1
+ 6H Panel 6 Hoist
- K1M Contactor No. 1

Example 2, part on crane.

S2 + H - K1M

= S2 Switchgear S2
+H Hoist Drive
- K1M Hoist Contactor No. 1

8.1.6.4 EQUIPMENT IDENTIFICATION CODE

See "KEY TO IDENTIFICATION CODES FOR LIEBHERR CRANE

SWITCHGEAR CABINETS".

The "Equipment Identification Code" is mainly identified with the functional

structure, to which the breakdown of the schematic diagram also corresponds.

If one circuit function is shown on several diagram sheets, these bear the same
equipment identification code.
8.1.6 HOW TO READ LIEBHERR SCHEMATIC
DIAGRAMS

8.1.6.5. PANEL IDENTIFICATION CODE

The various parts of the Switchgear is / are subdivided into panels to facilitate functional
identification and/or distributed controlling functions as follows :

= S1 Main Switchgear Panel

= S2 Auxiliary Switchgear Panel for Spreader Controls.
= S3 Other Switchgear Panels, etc.
= R1 Electronic Regulator Hoist, Travel (generally)
= R2 Electronic Regulator Trolley, Derrick
= R3 Other Electronic Regulator Panels, etc.
= W1 Resistance Box Cable Drum (generally)
= W2 Other Resistance Boxes, etc.
= P1 Driver's Control Console
= P10 Derrick Control Panel
= P20 Travel Control Panel

The main switchgear panel S1 is subdivided in functional panels for the various drive units.
These functional panels are called "Fields".

Example: Field 1 - Main Supply

Field 2 - Hoist
Field 3 - Trolley
Field 4 - Travel
etc.

The Field No. and Drive function are stamped on a name plate fitted to the top of each
panel.

8.1.6.6 HOW TO LOCATE ITEMS IN SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS

For convenient tracing of interrupted lines and items of equipment (as well as parts thereof
shown elsewhere in the circuit, the schematic diagram(s) is (are) sub- divided into Diagram
Sections numbered 1 to 8. as follows. See figure 3.

8.1.6.6.1 Diagram Section References Marked at Circuit Symbols and Connectors

To locate symbols, cross references are used to identify Sheet No. and integral Section No.
See Figures 1 and 2.

8.1.6.7. INTERCONNECTION BETWEEN SWITCHGEAR AND ELECTRONIC PANELS

Galvanic isolation is provided between switchgear and electronic panels. These are
designated Input Isolating Relays and Output Isolating relays, see Figure 3.
