ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF Lifeboat, Davits and Winches

1. Check the condition of the Davit.

2. Check the condition of the life boat for any damage and chafing

3. Check the drain plugs and washer in place.

4. Check the spare boat pug with washer

5. Check the Crutches and Oars, and boat hook.

6. Check the rudder, pintle, Gudgeon and Tiller.

7. Check the hatchets, Fire Extinguisher and other boat gears

8. Check the Steering mechanism and engine.

9. Check the release gear mechanism.

10. Check the securing of painter and use of toggle.

11. Check the Davits and Winches and to be lubricated.

12. Check the operation of Davit air motors to check for operation.

13. Check the operation of Cut off limit valve.

14. Check the movement of all sheaves. Grease falls, floating blocks and sheaves.
Check condition of lifting hooks.

15. Check the markings on life boats eg. sitting arrangement, Name of the
vessel, Call sign of the vessel, Port of registry ,Boat Pulg etc… visible to aircraft as well as
other vessel (Top view and Side view).

16. Check the Securing arrangements of the life boat.

17. Check the marking of Fresh Water, Food, Fuel, Tool container.

18. Condition of RF tape to be checked.

19. Boat Station to be marked

20. Check the instruction – Launching Procedure.

21. Entry to be made in LSA maintenance Register and PMS as applicable.
