This seminar report summarizes research on using sewage in pavement construction. Testing was conducted on materials with added sewage sludge to evaluate properties like compaction, bearing capacity, strength and deterioration over time. Results showed the sewage sludge mixtures maintained adequate strength properties for pavement applications when compacted properly and with additives like cement, lime or emulsions. Heavy metals in the mixtures were within acceptable limits. The report concludes sewage sludge can be effectively used in highway construction when mixed appropriately with local soils.
