For my National History Day project, I chose Indian Independence as my topic, because

my family is from India, so I wanted to explore this topic. Also, I chose this topic because I
always wondered how India got their independence in 1947 CE, when the United States of

America got their independence in 1776 CE. Therefore, I chose Indian Independence as my topic

for the National History Day project.

Since the theme this year was Conflict and Compromise, I wanted to find sources that

explained how India was before they were conquered, the movements and struggles that India

did and went through in the fight for independence, and the effects that Indian independence did

to India. I wanted to find different types of sources, so my project would be more reliable and

true.

I chose to do a website for this year’s National History Day project, because I thought

that explaining India’s independence would flow more smoothly on a website than on anything

else. On the website, I can slowly explain the effects of Indian Independence and its effects on

modern-day India. Therefore, this year, I chose to do an website for my National History Day

project.

My National History Day project relates to the National History Day theme, Conflict and

Compromise. This is true, because it shows the conflict between the British and the Indians in

the fight for the independence. It also shows the compromise between the British and Indian

people, because in 1947 CE, Great Britain gave India independence, compromising in the fight

for independence. Therefore, my National History Day project relates to the National History

Day theme, Conflict and Compromise.
