NOTICES:
The signing of our Sister School Agreement with Tomas de Jalisco School: We had a very successful signing
ceremony today between ourselves and Tomas de Jalisco School in Mexico. Billy and Mahdhi greeted and welcomed
our guests in te reo Maori. They were shortly followed by Arabella and Constance who spoke in Spanish and gave a
brief description of CTMS and the unique nature of our school. CTMS students sang several songs. At this point
we conducted the official signing ceremony and then gifts were exchanged between ourselves and our Mexican
guests. Throughout the ceremony we were connected via skype to Tomas de Jalisco School. The students at
Tomas de Jalisco responded with a brief speech and sang to our students. The first links of friendship between
our two schools are now officially established. We see this as a wonderful learning opportunity for our students to
establish a cultural connection with Spanish speaking children of the same age, living on the other side of the
world. It will provide an exciting and authentic context for the development of our Spanish programme at CTMS.
Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews: Thank you to all the families and students who were able to attend the
Parent/Teacher interviews. We value the opportunities to meet with parents/families to communicate the many
ways we observe their child/ren progressing and developing in their learning. This year we were also able to speak
to the National Standards and how this related to individual student achievement.
Winter Sports Tournament: On Thursday next week the Year 5/6 students will be participating in the Central
Zone Winter Sports Tournament.
Parent helpers needed: Thank you to The PTA who are co-ordinating a group of parents to help tidy up some areas
around the school before the end of the term. A number of jobs have already been completed. There remain just
a few more areas for tidying. You can contact either Olga directly ph (027) 283-5587 or speak with Jenny for any
further offers of support. Thank you.
Plastic Supermarket Bags: We continue to need more plastic bags for recycling and as bin liners. If you have any
spare bags at home we would welcome these at school. Please leave them in the art room.
Yummy Fruit Stickers: Please send in all yummy fruit stickers to the school office now as we need to exchange
them for free sports gear by the end of this term.
Book Token: Many thanks to the Museum of City & Sea for donating a book token donation of $30 to CTMS. The
donation was in recognition of the wonderful postcard designs from CTMS students.
NZSO free tickets: We have 20 free tickets to give away to the NZSO concert on Saturday 18 September at
3.00 pm. Please contact Raewyn at the school office. These will be given on a first in first serve basis.
New Gate at CTMS: Many thanks to Steve King and his building team for building our beautiful new front gate.
Thank you also to the PTA for donating the funds for this project.
Sibling Enrolments 2011: Please could all families complete an application form for any siblings starting at our
school in 2011 to assist us with class numbers/planning for next year.
