Spring 2018 AH&LA Chair Application

22nd. You must sign up for an interview during the following week through our
doodle poll.

Please highlight the position you are applying for (if you’re applying for more than one,

● Special Events
● The special events chair will be responsible for working with the
Executive Board to plan the New York Hotel Show and promote the
Legislative Action Summit, along with other relevant AH&LA and
industry trade shows and opportunities
● Public Relations (2)
● The public relations chair will be responsible for regularly updating all of
AH&LA’s social media (including facebook, Instagram, and weebly
website) and updating the second floor wall box monthly
● Create write-ups to send to Dr. Mount after AH&LA trips for use in SHM,
HHD, and Alumni newsletters
● Will also be responsible for working with other chairs to help promote
their projects and activities happening within the club
● Service
● The service chair will be responsible for engaging PSU AH&LA in
meaningful service and philanthropy efforts, both locally and with our
beneficiary, the Shatterproof Organization
● Fundraising
● The fundraising chair will be responsible for planning multiple fundraisers
for the club, finding ways to work with local businesses as well as coming
up with unique fundraisers that engage members
● Current Events
● The current events chair is responsible for educating AH&LA members on
important issues and trends occurring within the hotel segment or
hospitality industry as a whole
● Will present a current event at every General meeting
● Industry Relations
● The industry relations chair will be responsible for reporting on activities
of other student orgs within the School of Hospitality Management
● Will attend periodic PRLA meetings and discuss events and initiatives of
the group with AHLA PSU
● Will be responsible for discussing national AHLA’s current efforts and
initiatives at every General meeting

Requirements of AH&LA Chairs:


● Register to become an active AHLA Member through the national organization
● Regularly attend AH&LA meetings – both General and Board
o AHLA General meetings will occur every other Tuesday, beginning on
January 16th, at 6 PM
o There will be an AHLA Board meeting on Friday, January 26th at 4 PM
for those who are selected to be chairs
o Board meetings will occur every other Tuesday beginning on February
6th, at 6 PM
