DETAILS FOR PRINTING THE AIRFOIL

The airfoil will be fabricated using a metal 3d printer.

The powder used: Commercial grade Aluminium 7075 T6 powder.

DESCRIPTION FOR AIRFOIL:

1. The chord length of the airfoil is 150.00mm
2. The wing span of the airfoil is 250.00mm
3. Mean thickness at the center 14.87mm

The following have been attached along with the mail.

1. Part file (part extension)
2. Dimensions of the part file and sectional views(JPEG)
3. The physical properties of the part (JPEG)
4. STL format for 3d printing //The extension has to be renamed according to the input format of
the printer.
a) STL extension b) .makerbot STL extension.

NOTE:
The portion of the airfoil marked from A to B is hollow, hollow portion is provided to gain reduction
in overall weight,
The green colored portion marked in the figure below is the hollow portion. The extreme side faces
are marked as C and D on left and right face respectively.
Since the airfoil needs to be supported on both ends C and D, a 30 mm thick solid is provided on
either side for drilling holes for nut/bolt that will be used during clamping procedure.

The dimensions of the airfoil are given below, 250mm span length,150 mm chord length, 190 mm
hollow portion in the middle with a (chord length of 135mm), (250-190 =60mm) Therefore,30mm of
solid on either side.
The airfoil outline represented in red is the solid part, The one represented in blue outline is the
hollow part.
DURING PRINTING:
During the printing stage, the process parameters:
LASER POWER- 250-350 W
SCAN SPEED - 1200-1650 m/s
LAYER THICKNESS- 30 µm
HATCHING- 110 µm

AFTER PRINTING
Once we receive back the printed part, We will generate the hole for clamping.
