1. Breadboard
Introduction:- A breadboard is a rectangular plastic box filled with holes, which have contacts in which
electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, LEDs, Transistors, ICs and wires
etc can be inserted. A breadboard is what someone uses to string together a temporary version of circuit.
Someone doesn’t have to solder wires or anything else; instead, someone pokes components and wires
into the little contact holes arranged in rows and connected by lines of metal; then someone can connect
components together with wires to form circuit.
Figure 1.2 shows that how to make series and parallel resistor circuits using breadboard.
2. Digital Multimeter
Introduction:- A multimeter or a multitester, is an electronic measuring instrument that combines
several measurement functions in one unit. A typical multimeter may include features such as the
ability to measure voltage, current and resistance. Whereas some multimeters can have some of
extra features; such as measuring capacitance, inductance, conductance, decibels, duty cycle,
frequency, temperature, continuity, diode, transistor, battery etc
A simple digital multimeter and its probes are shown in the figure 1.3, which consists of
following main parts
Probe connections: Here probes are plugged in with respect to selected function
If it is possible to remove component from circuit and then measure resistance, else turn
off any power source connected to component
Turn multimeter on
If there is no reading, then increase the scale value and find the value of resistor
Exercise Questions:
Q#01: What are advantages of using Breadboard?
Q#03: Measure the current using multimeter if 1k-ohm resistor is connected to 5V battery?
Q#04: With the help of multimeter; how one can know that whether diode is faulty or not?
