January General Body Meeting: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2018. ROOM 220 AT 5:30PM

COMMUNITY SERVICE

• BLSA would like to donate items and a basket to SPIL for this year’s SPIL Auction on February
2nd. Please contact Onyi for more information. Details about the basket items will be discussed at
the general body meeting on Wednesday, January 24th.
• To donate items, join the SPIL page on TWEN and bring items to Room 340 (the financial aid
office). The contribution form goes to Bart and he will direct you to where the items go.

Thursday, March 22-23: The Federal Bar Association is seeking law students to serve as bailiffs at the
2018 Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C. By participating in this
competition, students will be able to:
• experience a professional moot court competition
• interact with FBA members from across the country
• work in courtrooms at the D.C. Superior Court and U.S. Court of Federal Claims
• network with other law students

Spring 2018

• earn a $50 stipend for every 4 hours of service worked


• attend the final round of competition, awards ceremony, and reception at the U.S. Court of
Appeals for the Armed Forces

All volunteers will receive training prior to the competition as well as onsite guidance, and staff will be
available to answer any questions.

There are only 35 total spots available, so students need to respond ASAP to Anthony Jones
at ajones@fed.org.
