Lesson Plan in Science Grade 8 I.Objectives
GRADE 8
I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, it is expected that 85% of the students will be able to:
b. explain how to get the electronic configuration of the elements in the periodic table.
MATERIALS: Chalk, Manila paper, Adhesives, Marker and Periodic Table of Elements
PROCEDURE
A1- Prelab
Drill:
Motivation:
The teacher will be presenting the periodic table of elements. Then, the students will locate the
elements in the periodic table. Afterwards, the teacher will ask students on how to easily locate
the elements.
A2- Analysis
A3- Abstraction
1. The different groups in the periodic table are: Alkali Metals, Alkaline Earth Metals, Transition
Elements, Halogens, Noble Gases, Lacthanides, and Actinides.
2. The different periods in the periodic table are: Period 1, Period 2, Period 3, Period 4, Period 5, Period 6,
and Period 7.
3. In getting the electronic configuration of an element, always remember that the number in the leftmost
side is the period, the letter is the block, and the number in the right is the family.
Example: Boron
Boron is located in the 2nd period, block p, and in the first family of halogens. Therefore its electronic
configuration is 2p1.
A4. Application
The teacher will give an element, then the students will give its corresponding electronic configuration.
1. Sodium
2. Gold
IV. EVALUATION
1. Germanium
2. Iron
3. Zinc
4. Magnesium
5. Xenon
