from Sri lanka. The date of brith of mine is 18th march 1987 .
I started my formal education from Buluwala maha Vidyalaya -Kurunegala and as I was a scholarship
holder I got a chance to do my secondary education at Holy Family Balika Vidyalaya and I passed the
ordinary Level Examination with 9-Distinction and 1-Very Good Pass and did my advanced level in science
stream in 2007 and got through it with 2 credit passes and 1 Ordinary Pass ( Biology- C , Chemistry- C ,
Phsyics- S ) for my higher education I had an opportunity to enter to the government nursing training.
After being trained for three years I passed the diploma with a credit and got an appointment as a nurse
to the Colombo National Hospital 2011. It’s a great impression for my life as achieved my childhood
ambition. I was appointed to a surgical professorial unit. I have been there for two years and I was
transferred to accident service intensive care unit in 2014 and I do continue my service up to now over
there.
I completed my degree in bachelor of science in nursing from Open University Malaysia in 2014. I did
complete my degree with a research desertation on…1st International Nursing Research Forum in
Srilanaka-2013 ( Assessment of Anxiety Level related to gastro intestinal endoscopic patient ) and also I
had a oportunity to participated 2nd OUM Nursing Research Colloquium at Malaysia in 2014, while I am
fulfilling my acedamic qualification I also enhance the professional qualification through my profession. i
won a gold award for poster presentation at the 1st InternationalNursing Reseach Forum in Sri Lanka-2013.

All these knowledge help me to achieve my profession for the correct goal and my working experiences
what I gained at the unit is vital for gain my knowledge as well. We do get different experience with
different kind of patients at ICU. Working in accident service ICU at a central hub of the country is great
for me. Colombo National Hospital is the central place where all the people come to the various
treatments. As Colombo is the business capital city in Sri Lanka it is crowded and we tend to meet people
with different diversity and we do have experience to handle people with different diversities. We need
to understand the people while taking care of them. Being empathetic towards them and understanding
is really effective while giving the medical treatments. That made me to seek my further studies in social
work in Srilanka there are no master programme in Social work with a internationally valid I seek master
programme for several month.i heard about master of social work at South Australian University and I
decided my self to apply for my masters in social work in Australia. I think it would be a great help to
enhance my service for the society and the people where I work for. I even from my childhood really
interest to helping people and listening them when I am needed. So I think I have inner interest and ability
to work in self in that as well.
I really want to have an experience with different people with different cultures and ethnicities. I hope
that would be enhanced my knowledge attitudes and perceptions. Australia is the one of multicultural
and multinational country as more than srilanka.i believe Australian society is very good place to gain
knowledgeand experience regarding social work and I believe it will very easy to apply my country.in Sri
Lanka social work field still developing I would like to come back after complete my master programme
and two year work experience i would like to give my knowledge and experiences to my counrey for
enhance my country social work field .That would be different experience for me to work with the out
setting which I was not earlier and I am eargly looking forward to having that experiences happily.
