About the Company and Software


We are a US-based company, founded in 2007, within the technology space. We are a small
company, but funded, incubated, and supported by a much larger organization and with that comes
the benefits of being within a larger organization but remaining small and agile.
Today, we are undergoing a complete platform re-build and strategy for our consumer-facing web
application. We’re building with a flexible and powerful MVC framework, and, in the near future,
will interface with enterprise applications, their APIs, and other existing data exchange protocols.
About the Position
The Lead User Experience Designer, UX Architecture will provide a continuous thread of user
experience vision from beginning to end of the ideation through development process. During the
early stages of a design cycle, the Lead User Experience Designer, UX Architecture will work with
product manager to gather and synthesize business and marketing goals, value propositions, and
audience research and will provide heuristic audits, competitive/comparative analysis, and
refinement of audience definition as an input and source of inspiration for design concepting. During
the concepting phase the Lead User Experience Designer will work closely with other technologist to
develop initial concepts contributing user flows, conceptual IAs, prototyping plans, and low fidelity
wireframes. Moving into the product definition phase, the Lead User Experience Designer will work
with designers, and technologists to provide detailed user experience specifications in the form of
information architecture diagrams, annotated wireframes, and flows. The Lead User Experience
Designer will then work closely with UI developer to communicate UX specifications and make
adjustments as needed based on technology constraints and opportunities. The Lead User Experience
Designer will also work closely with usability and user researchers during various stages of the
process to test designs and to gather results from ongoing efforts to improve software and services
and may be responsible for conducting user research or managing vendors who conduct user
research. This is not a visual design role, but ability to develop visually compelling diagrams and
presentations is essential.

Responsibilities

• Work with user researchers to coordinate testing efforts, interpret test results, and
incorporate results into design efforts.

• Produce scenarios, process flows, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, and other
artifacts required to develop and evolve user experience designs.

• Help develop, manage, and refine UI pattern libraries and interaction guideline.

• Effectively communicate with developers through implementation phase to realize design


vision.
• Participate in and help facilitate design brainstorming and work sessions.

• Communicate, defend, and build consensus around experience architecture and interaction
design direction.

Qualifications

• Qualified candidates should have at least 4-5 years of experience including experience with
user research, usability testing, information architecture, and interaction design.

• Demonstrate strong portfolio or examples of prior design work.

• Expertise creating a variety of interaction design documents including user scenarios, task
flows, conceptual models, competitor analysis, heuristic analysis, and annotated wireframes.

• Experience creating and managing UI pattern libraries and interaction guidelines ideally
across a large organization.

• Experience in developing and conducting a variety of both qualitative and quantitative


research including ethnographic research, contextual inquiries, guided explorations, and
usability testing.

• Exposure to and understanding of variety of design, project management, and development


processes and methodologies including Agile development methods.

• Demonstrate ability to work confidently with Program Management, Development, Product


Planning, Brand, Marketing and Usability.

• Understanding of mobile design and current mobile design trends.

• Excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills.

• Possess ability to think conceptually about design and information architecture.

• Understand the array of technical constraints, user goals and business requirements that
shape current and future products.

• Proficiency with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Omnigraffle and ability to quickly

Job Overview:

The primary responsibility for this role will be to work with subject matter experts in the
various fulfillment divisions of our company, primarily to elicit requirements for
enhancements of existing systems and, secondarily to collaborate with business and
technical personnel to help vet ideas for new systems and products. The business analyst
will interact extensively with business users to identify, analyze and document business
opportunities. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly learn industry practices and

The analyst will work within small teams to design new products and enhancements throughout the
development process, including:

Interact directly with our internal users to gather requirements and understand business needs.
Translate business needs into requirement documents

Work with developers to clarify/refine/elaborate requirements as the technical implementation progresses

Functional design in collaboration with the Data, Technical and Integration Architects to ensure functional and
technical design is robust and meets both functional/non functional requirements.

Discuss complex business issues and provide recommendations on action to senior stakeholders and IT
managers

Ensure explicit traceability of requirements to business case and business objectives

Work with QA department to ensure the delivery of quality software

Participate in planning for the creation and ongoing maintenance of schedules, risks and issues
