On the opposite page you see a rough sketch of our future
campus. On the preceding page you see the yJictures of most of
the buildings in the sketch. The Fine Arts Building is under
construction at t his time. The library building will soon be
started.

The sketch shows the campus as it is planned for September,

when school opens again.

Perhaps no community is making greater effort. to meet the

educational needs of its youth. That f a ct is proved by the
achievement of a AA classification the first year that the State
Department of Education classified the schools under the new plan.

Your school with its fine grade program, with its wide high
school curriculum, with its services to the Veterans in Vocational
Agriculture and Carpentery, with its summer music program, its
summer recreation program on the athletic field etc. is extending
every effort to meet the community's needs in an educational way.

May I congratulate the citizens of this school district for

this fine program and may I urge you as students to take every
advantage of the opportunities that are yours.

Sincerely,

Superintendent of Schools

Bisons Enjoy Big Year of Athletics

The Bisons were kept quite busy in their sports activity

throughout the school.year. They carried high ideals of aports-
manship and respect for their opponents into ec:ch contest played.
Their experiences and contacts in athletics rea.ched throughout
the state. They met new athletes and created friendships that
will be remembered. for a long time.

The. Bison teams engaged in a total of 85 contests. They

were victorious in 67 of those games.

First was the softball season in the fall, which was climaxed
with the Buffalo Invitational Softball Tourney. Another short
softball season was played in the spring, also. This spring season
was climaxed by play in the S. H. s. Softball Tournament. A total
of 17 games were played. The Bisons were victorious in 14 of
those games, winning 2nd, and 3nd places in tournament competition.

The biggest sport in school is basketball and the Bison's

greatest accomplishment during the school year was winning the
Regional Tournament and playing in the State Tourney at Columbia.
The Bisons defeated Kansas City East in their first game, then
lost to Joplin in the quarter final game. The record for the
Bison varsity was 26 won 7 lost. The Junior High Bisons completed
a season of 10 straight victories against no defeat. This is the
first time in many years that this feat had been accomplished.

The Bison ~~seball team during spring play were defeated in

six games that they played.

Several good athletes were developed during the school year.

Charles Peterson and Leland Bradley were given aonorable men-

tion for their 'p iay in the State Basketball Tournament.

Track act1vity was originated on an interschool basis for the

first time in several years. Three meets were participated in.
This program will be greatly expanded next year.

The year 1950-51 will be long remembered by the Bisons for

the courageou~way in which they engaged in their schedule. The
many thrilling, exciting, tense moments will never die in the
memories· of the Athletes of Buffalo High School.
