1. Write the construction procedure for WBM roads.
2. Calculate the SSD on a highway at descending gradient of 2% for a design speed of 100
kmph. Assume other data as per IRC recommendations.

1. Write the flexible pavements design steps and describe the procedure in brief as per IRC:
37-2001.
2. Explain O and D study. What are the various uses of O and D.
3. What are the important factors to be considered for designing pavement?
4. Explain sight distance and factors causing the restrictions to sight distance?
5. Calculate the stresses at interior, edge and corner of a cement pavement using
Westergard’s stress equation, use the following data : Design wheel load = 5100 kg,
pavement thickness t = 20 cm, modulus of elasticity of concrete = 3 x 105 kg/cm3,
poisson’s ratio of concrete is 0.15, modulus of sub grade reaction K = 6 kg/cm3 radius of
contact area. A = 15 cm.
6. A NH passing through a rolling terrain has two horizontal curves of radius 450 m and 150
m. Design the required super elevation for the curves as per IRC guidelines.
7. What are the considerations for design of rigid pavements? Estimate the thickness of
pavement using method suggested by IRC : Design wheel load = 5100 kg, modulus of
