"Mom, come on" Shining urged "It's been a week and a half and I only have three weeks to spare away
from the City. Let me take you out."

"Shining..." Velvet was starting to sound exasperated. Her son had been at this for ten minutes now.
She continued trying to read her book from her seat on the couch, her legs propped up on it, a pair of
reading glasses resting on her muzzle.

"What's the point of doing this whole thing if we don't go out and have some fun?"

"What's the point in going out to have fun if we can't act like a couple?" Velvet replied as she lowered
her book.

"We can. How many ponies do you actually know who would recognize us as mother and son? I may
be a prince, but personal information like that hasn't been released to the public."

Velvet opened her mouth to retort but hesitated, as that was actually a good point. Most of her
current friends she mostly met while going out, and while they knew of Shining they hadn't seen
pictures of him.

".....Enough" she finally managed to get out. Unfortunately, her tone and open mouthed expression
she had maintained left Shining with a doubtful raised eyebrow. This made her cringe, realizing how
unconvincing this had made her. "Well I still think it's very risky." Shining let out a sigh before he
moved to sit on the opposite end of the couch, lifting his mother's legs and resting her hooves on his
lap. She had chosen to wear a tank top and jeans today, and no bra, simply for comfort. Her phase of
actively teasing Shining to torment him was over. Most of her comfortable clothes just happened to
show off her body a little.

"I promised you we'd be careful" Shining said as he began to lightly massage one of his mother's
hooves "And the risk isn't that high. I can assure you, nopony is gonna know or suspect. So, what do
you say?"

"Mm" Velvet hummed in contemplation and satisfaction from the massage. Her face became
thoughtful, and she focussed her eyes on Shining, who was looking at her very hopefully.
"Well...oh, what the hell? Let's do it."

"You mean it?"

"Yes" Velvet affirmed with a small bit of enthusiasm.

"It would be nice to get out" Velvet mused as she started to move her hoof in Shining's hand, almost
as if playing hoofsies "You just want us to be able to have some fun."

Shining's eyebrows raised as his mother used her other hoof to start stroking his groin area, setting
aside her book on the nearby nightstand.

"And not the kind of fun we have here....when we're alone."

"Exactly" Shining replied, mirroring the sultry look his mother was giving him. Velvet gave a light

"Actually, on second thought....." Velvet began as she retracted her hoof, leaving Shining rather
surprised and confused.

Before Velvet could wrap her arms around Shining, she exclaimed as she found herself pushed off
onto her back. She looked up to see Shining hovering over her with a seductive smile. He then pulled

Their actions quickly intensified, and some time later, Shining's efforts were over.

The pair lay naked on the couch beneath a blanket they had pulled from a chair, with Velvet lying in
top of her son, a hand on his chest while one of his held her waist. Both had their eyes closed in
contentment, thankfully after closing the curtains to ensure they weren't seen.

"Alright, you convinced me" Velvet said gently "We'll go out tomorrow."

"Glad to hear it" Shining acknowledged.

The two looked at each other lovingly for a second before having one last kiss before drifting off to
sleep.

So far so good.
She and Shining left at around midday, around lunch time, and made for one of Canterlot's plazas.
There were a variety of stores, restaurants, kiosks, and even a small movie theatre.

Shining had treated his mother to lunch at a nice little cafe she liked to come to every now and again.
From there, they explored the shopping areas. Since Shining was taking his mother out, most of the
stores were her choice.

She had gone to a shoe store, a few clothes stores, partly to get some more teasing material, and
finally a book store. She was able to check out some new works from her favorite authors. Shining
even got himself a Royal Guard magazine.

Velvet asked a few times if there weren't any stores Shining wanted to visit for himself. Each time he
assured her this was a day for her, and that he was more than satisfied to just be taking his mother
out.

And she could tell quite easily.

The day was going a bit better than Velvet had expected as far as potential discovery was concerned.
But thankfully, as Shining had pointed out, she didn't have that many friends living in the area who
would recognize him. And those few who did made her heart speed up when she spotted them.

Velvet was basically shocked when Shining did something that could reveal them whenever those
familiar with him would show up. She didn't mind when they weren't around of course, but it was like
he wanted them to find out.

He would give her a kiss on the cheek, hold her close by her waist as they walked, and a few times
casually brushed his hand over her behind.

But what was even more surprising was that her friends never seemed to notice, or at least give any
reaction she thought they would. She could've sworn that a few of them seemed to either look
approvingly or a little suggestively when they saw them. They would even lace their greetings with
such a tone.

The only thing Velvet could think of was that they were simply paying attention to Shining and not
how he acted with her. She couldn't blame them, but she did feel a hint of malice towards them for
checking out her son.

As evening approached, the couple were soon finished and began to make their way home, Shining
voluntarily carrying his mom's bags. Said mare found herself quite happy with how pleasant the day
turned out. And she was also very relieved that they hadn't been found out.

And then that relief turned into a combination of both fear and annoyance. Mostly annoyance.

"Damn it" Velvet muttered under her breath as she and Shining turned to the source of the call.

Velvet's neighbor, Crystal Rose, seemed to trot as she approached the pair with an enthusiastic look
on her face.

She was a unicorn with a cream colored coat and a hot pink mane worn in bangs and a braid placed
over her shoulder. Shining, like any other pony with a taste in mares, found it impossible not to notice
the way she was dressed.
She wore a t-shirt that seemed purposely chosen one size too small, shamelessly displaying her C-cup

Shining's eyebrows shot up in surprise at this mare's attire, while his mother internally groaned,
knowing that this wasn't exactly a new fashion choice for her friend.

"Crystal" Velvet said, putting on her best I like you, but mostly in public smile.

"Oh my god, it's so good to see you" Crystal said as she approached, she and Velvet doing the no
contact cheek kiss thing "It's been a while. How ya been?"

"I've been good Crys."

"I'll bet" she replied as she eyed Shining up and down, much to Velvet's displeasure.

"Now where did you find this handsome hunk of stallion and why wasn't I there to snatch him up
first?"

That caught Velvet the slightest bit off guard, considering Crystal would more than likely recognize
some pony she used to babysit. Though she could just be playing coy. It certainly wouldn't be
unexpected.

"This is Shining Armor" Velvet introduced her son with some small hesitancy "He was taking me out
for the day."

Crystal's reaction to this set off a red flag.

"Shining Armor?" Crystal asked with wide eyes. "The Shining Armor? The Captain of the Royal Guard
and the prince of the Crystal City?"

Oh thank Celestia. I thought she might've recognized me. Shining inwardly sighed in relief For a second
I thought the memory spell hadn't worked. That would've made this whole day really bad.

"The one and the same" Shining said after clearing his mind, taking step forward and setting down
some bags to put out a hand. The wide eyed and flustered mare took his hand rather quickly while she
covered her mouth.

"You must be Crystal Rose" Shining said before placing a kiss on her hand, forcing her to restrain a
mewl of arousal "Velvet's told me about you."

"All bad I hope" she replied after changing to a flirtatious expression. She and Shining both chuckled
at her comment, while Velvet herself quickly switched from confused to apprehensive.

"No offense to you V, but how did...this happen?" Crystal asked as she indicated to the two of them.

"I was actually visiting someone in the area when I came upon her" Shining replied "I found myself
quite taken with her. I made a move, we got to talking, and we decided to give dating a shot."

Velvet still found herself quite perplexed, but noted that Shining's summary, while very cut down, was
technically accurate.
"Okay, we" Crystal said as she indicated to herself and Velvet "are gonna have to start hanging out a
lot more, so that whatever angel of luck you've got hovering over you can work it's magic on me too.
I mean, first your daughter becomes a princess and now you bag yourself a prince?! And here I was
thinking I had better game than you."

Velvet smirked and raised an eyebrow at Crystal's version of saying I thought I was sluttier than you.

"You know" Cystal said as she got closer to Velvet "If you ever feel like you need some advice on how
to...keep him happy, don't be afraid to ask." She had spoken in a lower tone, but not enough for
Shining not to hear, clearly on purpose.

Velvet reared her head back slightly with a smile and knit eyebrows, as if to ask "Are you serious?"

"Or, if you maybe feel that he's a little too much and you need somepony else to tag in for a bit...."

"We should really get going! The sun is starting to set after all!" Velvet exclaimed with a very fake
smile.

"I'm kidding, V!" Crystal chuckled before muttering "For the most part.

"But you're right. You probably should be going, I've intruded on your day long enough. Though, you'd
better be careful, V. If you don't hold onto him tight enough, I might steal him away."

Crystal added a laugh to convey she was joking again, which Velvet didn't buy for a second as she
pulled Shining by his arm while smiling forcefully at her friend. Shining quickly grabbed the bags he
had set down before he started to be led away.

"It was a pleasure meeting you Crystal!" Shining called back with a light chuckle and wave as he was
pulled along.

"Very pleasurable meeting you, Shining Armor" Crystal called back, giving him a wink as she lightly

further with a hurried step, much to the amusement of the recently acquainted ponies.

"Nothing" Shining said quite casually "Just that she seems to make quite an impression with how

"Oh come one, she can't be that bad."

Shining's eyebrows shot up again. That certainly wasn't something he was expecting to hear, ever.

"Yup."

"And that means we don't have to be so careful!"

"Precisely."

"Nice work" Velvet said before beginning a gentle make out session. They soon drifted off to sleep,
bathed in the light of the fully risen moon.
