Subject: Your advice for our start-up

Dear Ms. Harmon,

I have heard about your attorney consulting firm, Delta, with its good reputation for legal
expertise and responsibility. I am writing to seek your advice about the best business structure
and related legal processes for our start-up in Canada.
My friend and I are planning to start our first chain of business in making and selling Taiwanese
tea. The locations will be in Downtown Vancouver with the first two operating stores, one on
Robson street and the other on Water street. Our idea is to bring the Taiwanese tea flavor and
build the teahouse atmosphere not only to awaken the Taiwanese’s nostalgia for their fatherland
but also to promote this specialty to a growing number of tea-lovers across the Vancouver area.
My friend and I are both of Taiwanese origin, and we maintain the good relationship with our
home country to be able to build a reliable supply chain of high-quality tea in Taiwan.
We need your advice on the following concerns:
 Which business structure is the best fit for our start-up in your opinion? A partnership or a
Corporation?
 What are the required information and documents which we need to prepare before
registering for our start-up?
 Where to register to start our business? Can we register online? What is the government
website for this registration (if any)?
 What will be the required forms in this registration process? Where to obtain those forms?
 What might be the total cost in breakdown details for this registration process?
 How long shall we have to wait after registration to start our business?
 After company registration, shall we have to fulfill other legal requirements related to tax and
insurance? What are they in details?
Your response to each of these questions will be very much appreciated. Should you have any
questions, or to request a meeting with us, please email or phone me at the contact information
noted below. Thank you for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
