Real Time Monitoring Of Health Status Of An
Athlete and Prediction: A Methodological Approach
1) PROJECT SUMMARY

In this project, researcher planning to work upon creation of an intelligent system to provide the
real-time analysis of a sportsperson and predict if he/she can play in the game. The project idea
revolves around identifying the current health-status of an athlete. This work best suits the need of
the managers as once we analyse the health-status and predict the result, this improves the team
performance in the upcoming games.

In their daily life managers find various problems in testing the health of the athletes. In order to
provide support mechanism, this research work targets the practical aspects of prediction of health
of an athlete and feedback by a physician to know the best possible condition.

By using this prediction mechanism the manager can get the real-time updates on the data uploaded
on to the cloud.

In this system, manager can track the health status at any time which reduces the time taken to
consult a doctor.
Moreover it sends notification to user on detection health status of the athlete. User can
also measure the correctness of the health status and take effective decisions due to the
involvement of physician in the process.

Ideal Case Working

Let’s take an example to explain the ideal working of this solution. Suppose in a team X there are 12
players. The supervisor needs to monitor the health status of all the 12 players. Our device provides
the real time data and analyses if the player is fit to play in the match. The physician provides the
feedback of the illness player is suffering.

2) TECHNICAL DETAILS RELATED TO THE PROJECT

A) Origin of the Idea

The origin of the idea came from the incident when we were playing football and one of our friend
fainted during the game. At the beginning of the game he was perfectly fine so we got the idea of
creating such a system which can monitor real time health status and predict fitness.

B) The Problem
Problem of Monitoring the Athlete is not recent, we have faced this problem from many decades
and no major steps were taken in this field in order to stop or minimise the consequences of this
problem. Here the major problem arises due to athlete’s carelessness towards their ignorance of
their health, for which they should not be fully blamed because the daily schedule of today’s
generation is very hectic that they remain always in hurry and thus this leads to unavoidable
incidents on the field.
So considering these accidents we are manufacturing an intelligent device which will prevent these
type of scenarios to happen in future.

C) The Solution
Now that we have realized that the problem is real we need to work on the solution. There are many
projects catering to the same situation but one of our key distinction features would be that we can
control the whole project using the app running devices and can provide the feedback of the
physician at the same time. An example of ideal working of this app is shown above.

D) Methodology
We intend to build a device to provide the best possible monitoring of an athlete where time can be
reduced and much better feedback can be provided.

E) Features:
1. The wristband containing pulse sensor, muscle sensor and temperature sensor takes the
reading.
2. The alcohol sensor is brought close to face to take reading.
3. The data collected is sent to cloud through Wi-Fi module.
4. The data received is processed through the pre-defined algorithm.
5. The data is checked through various parameters to ensure that the condition of athlete is in
the optimal zone.
6. If the all the conditions are true then the athlete is declared fit to play otherwise declared
unfit .
7. At the end the manager can take the decision for the player to play in the field.
F) Technologies Used
1. Device Platform – Arduino Uno, App Platform – Android
2. Language Used: Python, C, Java
3. Google Cloud Platform
4. APIs – Google login API, Facebook login API
5. MySQL
6. Google Analytics, Firebase, Facebook Analytics.

G) Implementation
1. Prototype Version – Available for testing in Jaipur with all major features.
2. Full version – Available with all the desired features for most of the parts of India
3. Updates – Working on making the device more artificially advance in future which will
promise maximum accuracy.

3) Facilities Provided by the college

1. Faculty Guidance and mentorship
2. Internet Connectivity
3. Other basic requirements
4) Time Required:

Approximately 4 months.
