1. USE MANUAL
1. GENERALITY
PM7 is an electronic tool for a diesel motor and protection. It is provided with manual and automatic starting
modalities from remote. It is able to signal several alarms coming from the motor. The entry to find the over speed
is used for several signal sources types as: pick up, alternator 230 ac, socket W for alternators at pre excitation,
regulators at permanent magnets type Saprisa.
The card is provided with the spark plugs pre heat outlet with impostable time.
Some relays by 30 A have been foreseen to simplify the installation which control directly the start and the stop.

4 Feed tension 12 / 24 V. Position ON 12 V.
The PM7 motor protection card is feeded with the key, with the key on zero the power consumptions are null.
The card at the starting performs the test led and in succession it sets in a waiting position.
Two yellow led corresponding to the start and stop buttons are lighted to allow the night visibility.
In this situation it is possible to control the manual functioning or the automatic functioning from remote.
The protection is enabled for all external alarm signals excluding the OIL LOW PRESSURE one and DYNAMO.
MANUAL FUNCTIONING
Pushing the START BUTTON ( 3 ) the starting is controlled.
The led corresponding to the start button ( 4 ) is red lighted.
When the motor speed exceeds the threshold of about 600 revolutions/min the led of motor starter ( 5 ) is lighted
and after 20 seconds also the alarms of OIL LOW PRESSURE and DYNAMO are enabled.
If the spark plugs pre heat function is enabled, before of the starting control the pre heat is controlled. Pushing
and keeping pressed the START BUTTON ( 3 ) the exit ( 5 di CN2 ) is enabled and the green led of pre heat
lighted.
When the set up pre heat period is spent the starting is controlled.
If the START BUTTON (3) is released the pre heat function is cut off and at the next pressure the starting is
controlled.
With the STOP BUTTON ( 1 ) the motor stopping is controlled.
Once that the stopping phase is finished it is possible to control again the manual or automatic functioning.
In manual functioning the automatic starting and stopping controls are excluded.
If the manual starting procedure is cut off before that the motor is in run the card waits 60 seconds afterwards it
deactivates the 15_54.
AUTOMATIC FUNCTIONING
Closing the external contact of automatic starting ( 4 CN 2 ) the card controls the cycle signelled by red led of
flashing start ( 4 ) .
If the pre heat is enabled the spark plugs pre heat exit ( 5 CN 2 ) is set off and the green led corresponding ( 8 ) is
lighted.
When the set up pre heat period is spent, the starting is controlled.
The automatic starting cycle is constitued by 4 attempts of the duration of 5 seconds staggered with equivalent
breaks.
In the case in which the motor doesn’t succeed to start, subsequently the lacked starting is signalled with the
acoustic alarm and the lacked starting led ( 13 ).

While if the motor speed exceeds the started motor threshold (about 600 revolutions/min ) the start control is
disabled and the started motor led ( 8 ) is lighted. After 20 seconds the alarms of OIL LOW PRESSURE and
DYNAMO are anabled.
Opening the automatic starting external contact ( 4 CN 2 ) the motor stopping is controlled.
Once that the stopping phase is finished it is possible to control again the manual or automatic functioning.
In automatic functioning the START BUTTON ( 3 ) is excluded.
The STOP BUTTON ( 1 ) controls the motor stopping.
In this case, when the stopping phase is finished, the card sets in block state signalled by flashing of the stop red
led ( 2 ) .
From the block state it is possible to exit only resetting the card driving the key at zero.
ALARMS
At the card starting are enabled all the motor protections except the OIL LOW PRESSURE and DYNAMO which
are enabled 20 sec after that the motor is considered started ( about 600 revolutions/min ).
During an alarm the stopping cycle is activated and composed by :
The stopping control for electromagnet is keeped for 30 seconds after that the motor speed is fallen under the
minimum readable threshold 4Hz +/-.
If the protection of FUEL RESERVE is depicted for the only signalling, the stopping procedure isn’t controlled.
After the intervention of an alarm it isn’t possible to start again the motor if not after a reset of the card that can be
obtained disconnecting it.
The tacit of the acoustic alarm is obtained pressing the STOP BUTTON ( 1 )
STOPPING CONTROL
CONNECTIONS
The connections performed as the scheme, particular attention is dedicated at the speed survey, without which it
isn’t possible to manage the automatic starting and the protection by over speed

ALTERNATOR 260 V ac
when the PM7 is at protection of a generator, it is possibile to connect directly at 260 V ac
the alternating tension supplied, which frequency directly proportional at the turns,
surveyed from PM7 1 2 3
Connect the NEUTRAL coming from the alternator at the connector 1 CN1.
Connect one of the PHASES coming from the alternator ( 260 V ac ) at the
connector 3 of CN1.
ATTENTION!!! Be sure that the phase isn’t connected at the connector 2 CN1.

SWITCH CONFIGURATION
The PM7 is produced shaped with :
- SW1-1 = OFF se ON = spark plugs pre heat time at 10 seconds.
- SW1-2 = OFF 1500 rpm minute
- SW1-3 = OFF
- SW1-4 = OFF battery 24V if ON = battery 12V
- Speed survey on connections CN1 1-3 260Vac 50Hz.
It isn’t necessary to entry in programming phase if the work parameters are suitable for the functioning requested.
PROGRAMMING
ATTENTION!!!
During the recording phase of the parameters only the alarms signalling are enabled but not the
protections. The operator must be the only, in alarm case, to stop the motor if considers it opportune.
The EMERGENCY STOPPING alarm is always enabled.
In this phase it is possible to set up : the intervention of FUEL RESERVE alarm, the spark plugs pre heat time and
the over speed threshold.
During the complete recording phase of the parameters the LED of START ( 4 ) and STOP ( 2 ) are lighted of
yellow and flashing.
