TUTORIAL

 How do I know when it is time to be quiet after group work?
Ms. Moore will quiet the class by saying “5-4-3-2-1”. The expectation is that all students are silent by the time she
says “1”! Outside of the classroom (field trip, combined classes, etc.) you may be asked to do an AVID callback chant.
“When I say AVID, you say ROCKS!”

When does class begin/dismiss?

Students are expected to be in their seats beginning the bell work by the time the bell rings. Strolling in while the bell
rings will be considered a tardy. You are dismissed when the bell rings--please do not pack up and gather around the
door if we have a couple of minutes at the end of the period! This is AVID after all!! We could be using that time to write
in planners, complete TRF’s, review notes, etc.

Can I eat in your class?

You may eat light snacks in my classroom. Please eat your lunch at your designated lunch time. Full meals will NOT be
tolerated in the room during class periods. What this means is that if I have you in my fourth period and you are
coming from lunch, it is not appropriate to use your lunch period to drive to El Queso and then save your meal to eat
during class. NO FOOD, DRINK, OR CHEETO FINGERS AROUND THE CHROMEBOOKS!

What can I do with saved passes?

YAY! You have Cornell Note passes! If you hold onto them for the entire semester, you can turn them in for an
incentive!

What are the class rules?

-Respect yourself, your peers, your teachers, and your community!
-Good vibes only!
-Come to class prepared and on time (in your seat before the bell rings)
-Come prepared with your binder, journal, and agenda every day!
-Use the restroom during passing breaks, not during class
-Ask for help when needed! (GROWTH MINDSET!)
-Adhere to the technology policy
-Adhere to the AVID contract

What is the tardy/absence policy?

Ms. Moore adheres to the PWSH policy.

Where can I get absent work?

Ms. Moore will post a summary of what we did in class every day on the "Absence Log” by sixth period and will denote
any materials used. The absent student can pick up the materials from the “absent file”. The absent file has a folder
for each day of the month (if you are absent on May 17th, you will find the folder labelled 17 for the materials). IT IS
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO TURN IN LATE WORK. Ms. Moore will not come find you for it.

When can I use my phone?

Phones are expected to be put away in your backpack or face down on the desk. Texting during lessons, quizzes, etc.
will result in your phone being taken away, parent contact, and or admin support.

Is your room open to eat lunch in?

YES! However, my classroom will be used as a study hall during A lunch. Please only come if you intend to do a study
group or silent work time. All food must be thrown away outside of the classroom.
