White House Feels Palestinians Got
White House Feels Palestinians Got
A top official familiar with the process of the Jerusalem announcement said the White House
line is: This is the new reality, it’s “no big deal” — that Jerusalem is always going to be the
Israeli capital.
The White House feels that the announcement has done its job of giving the Palestinians a strong
dose of reality, and that the Palestinians need to readjust their hopes to something more realistic,
the source said.
The White House is saying that, despite all the strong public opposition from regional leaders,
the tone communicated in private to the White House is actually much more relaxed.
But this source believes the administration is greatly underestimating the anger building in the
streets, in the Middle East — and that those leaders will have to respond to.
