Repeat the Sounding Joy
Christmas is a time to repeat the joy of God’s redemption story. But
as of late this verse in particular has been a repeating joy for me:
“God is not a man, that he should lie, or a son of man,
that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he
not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”
(Numbers 23:19, ESV)
2017 has brought many changes, challenges, and triumphs: among
them, a new position as a full time employee of CEF®. I was blessed
to take part in new projects and starting new ministry. But most of all,
through the work of support raising, I have gained a new appreciation
for the way God created us to depend on him.
Since I was 13, I have heard God calling me to ministry with CEF®.
Hand in hand with his calling is his promise to sustain me. More than
just a call to serve, it is a call to fully depend on Him. Only he can open
the doors of a school. Only he can stir the hearts of students and draw
volunteers. And only he can provide the resources and funds to
sustain the ministry and its people.
This sweet truth has encouraged me as I have met with people to
share with them the work of CEF. I have seen God move in their hearts
to trust him and provide for them, as they step out and financially
support the ministry. At times I have been anxious about raising
support or making my deadlines, but God always reminded me that
he brought me to this place, and he promised to sustain me through
it. “Raising support is part of our ministry. It is a privilege, not a
burden.” (Scott Morton) I have found this to be so true as God has
shown himself faithful in building my support team. They are truly as
much a part of the ministry as I am.
If you have enjoyed watching what God has done through CEF® of
Central Alabama, then maybe God is calling you to step out and take
part. You can become an integral part of CEF® ministry by becoming
a committed financial supporter. If you think this seems unlikely, may
I ask you to pray about it? Perhaps God is trying to show you his
faithfulness much like he has shown me this year. If you have any

children?
CEF® is serious about
putting the most effective tools
and training in the hands of our
volunteers. Along with our
regularly scheduled trainings for
school year and summer ministry,
we also offer additional
workshops and classes taught
locally. One of those classes is
called Teaching Children
Effectively Level 1. This class is
taught as a series, and is most
well-known for the confidence it
instills in who desire to share the
message of Jesus Christ with
children, as well as people of all
ages. If you are interested in

Selma Ministry
Update!
After a great meeting and
the go-ahead from a new
superintendent, Selma schools
are open, and ministry is moving
forward! Continue to pray as we
host Good News Club® Training
for volunteers in January.

I have seen lives changed
through the work God is doing with
Child Evangelism Fellowship®, right
here in Central Alabama. So believe me
when I say, I love to talk about CEF®.
Over the last year I have had many
special opportunities to share with
groups and churches, such as Zoe
Christian Fellowship, Grace
Many who attended the MBA Mission
Presbyterian Church, a small group at Fair were interested to know what CEF
has to offer churches and believers
Evangel Church, and the annual
serving our area.

I always enjoy these
opportunities to connect with God’s
people and to share with them the joy
and vision of how CEF® is reaching boys
and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ,
discipling them in the Word of God, and
establishing them in local church Grace Presbyterian Church has been a

These kinds of opportunities often encourage someone
among the group who has heard of CEF®, or intrigues those in the
group who have never heard of CEF®. Once last month I even had a
chance run in with a mother in a small group who recently began
serving in a Good News Club®. Whether God calls me to share about
ministry for the purpose of encouraging believers, recruiting
volunteers, or connecting with new financial partners, I know that
time spent speaking about CEF® is never wasted.
CEF® of Central Alabama at its heart is interested in equipping the
church to be what God has created her to be. If you are interested in

 First Good News
Comedy Night
Children learn to worship as they sing and
learn motions to the song "He is God, the
one true God..."
On October 10th CEF® of
Central Alabama hosted its first
Good News Comedy Night at
Frazer United Methodist. Many
people from all over Alabama
attended to fellowship and laugh
together, but also to raise
awareness about CEF® and how
we are reaching local children and
families. Comedians John Crist
and Michael Jr put on a great
show. The audience also caught a
glimpse of the heart of CEF® as
local chairman Chris Carver shared
how CEF® touched his life early
on, as well as God’s faithfulness to
the ministry over the years. Many
may have heard about our work
for the first time as he also cast a
vison for the future of the
ministry. We believe that God will
grow up fruit from the seeds
planted through this event.
Literature Sale!
We are cleaning out the
local office and excited to say that
we will be having a special event
for our friends, partners, and
volunteers to benefit from the
abundance of useful but out-of-
circulation materials. Keep an eye
out for more details after the first
of the year.
Seeds Begin to Sprout at
Pike Road School
Over the last two years since Pike Road School was founded,
we have prayed earnestly about starting a Good News Club® there.
We have had various groups ask if there was anything in motion and
even voice interest in serving. We are now happy to say that God
has used a favorable meeting with the principle and a partnership
between The Church @ Pike Road and Century Church to finally
establish a Good News Club® in the new school.
We hosted a training for
volunteers in October, after
which, the club began meeting
in November. There were over
50 children enrolled by the first
day. I was pleased to help out
the first week by teaching Bible
