CEMENT: RESOURCES FOR A BASIC COLLECTION

PCA Library Bibliography Series No. 21 (LB21)

This bibliography contains a list of materials for a basic collection on portland cement, covering
cement technology, chemistry, manufacturing, and general reference. Although cement
proceedings are one of the most important resources, the list includes only those likely to be
available in the U.S.

Titles in boldface type are available for ordering through PCA’s web site (www.cement.org) or
through PCA Customer Service, 800.868.6733.

MILL SESSION AND IEEE/PCA PAPERS

The Mill Session collection comprises over 800 papers sponsored by the PCA Manufacturing
Technical Committee and published from 1920 to the present. Topics cover all aspects of cement
manufacturing. The searchable database for these papers is available in the Cement Manufacturing
area of the PCA web site (www.cement.org/manufacture).

As of 1999, papers from the IEEE/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference are also included in
this database.

PCA RESEARCH REPORTS

There are over 900 PCA R&D reports, many of which relate to cement properties and cement
manufacturing. Many can be downloaded at no charge in the PCA online Bookstore.
(www.cement.org/Bookstore). Others can be purchased online.

The Concrete Technical Support Library (CD019.02), a 4-CD set issued in 2003, contains over 800
PCA research reports, many on cement topics. The CD can be purchased online from PCA’s web
site, www.cement.org/Bookstore.

The PCA Library’s online catalog provides bibliographic access to over 22,000 books and reports
on cement and concrete. It also provides access to more recent PCA research reports, with links to
the full documents. It is continually updated as new reports are issued. The catalog may be
accessed on the Library’s home page, www.cement.org/Library.

INTERNET RESOURCES

The Internet is providing a growing and significant body of literature on cement, including many
free resources. These resources are an important supplement to a core collection of printed
materials. Recommended web-based resources include:

Cement Manufacturing Literature Database. This resource is located in the Manufacturing section
of the PCA web site. The topics are grinding, pyroprocessing, dust collection, storage,
conveying, and wear. It is maintained by PCA Information Services.
