Course Title: Introduction to Complementary and Alternative Medicine

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This class is broken into three 1.5-hour lectures. This class will provide an opportunity to

obtain a better understanding of what complementary and alternative medicine (CAM)

is. Students will learn about the different types of CAM practices available. Students will

learn how CAM practices can help with obesity.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course you should be able to:

CAM101-1: Demonstrate the ability to define CAM and describe the difference
between conventional medicine. Demonstrate the ability to name of
several CAM approaches.
CAM101-2: Demonstrate basic knowledge of three forms of CAM therapies.
CAM101-3: Demonstrate ability to describe effective uses of CAM practices to
prevent and reduce obesity.

COURSE MATERIALS

Students will receive weekly handouts and lecture outlines.
