Hot lunch begins September 7, 2010. Lunch cards
are available for purchase in the main office. The cost
of a 12-meal lunch card is $44 (K-6) and $50 (7-12).
You can also purchase a partial lunch card in
increments of the meal amounts. Lunch cards will be
available for purchase at Parents Night.
Please note that the office will no longer be providing
Ramen Noodles. If your child does not have a lunch
card or a sack lunch, they will be sent to the office to
call you. Please purchase your student’s lunch card
prior to September 7th.
Milk Cards – Milk is now included with each meal. If
your child wants ONLY milk and no meal, the cost for
the milk is $0.50. Milk cards can be purchased for your
child for $8 (16 punches).
Pizza Cards – Every Monday pizza will be sold as an
8th grade fundraiser. Pizza cards can be purchased in
increments of $15 and $30. Salad will be included for
students who would like it. Students also wanting milk
can purchase it with their milk card.

volunteer slots to be filled for preparing meals for our
kids. If you can spare about 4 hours one day per
month, we would greatly appreciate it! Please call
Cindy Morgan at the school or leave a message with
the office.
General Announcements
Soccer Practice: Just a reminder that there will be no
soccer practice tonight. There will be soccer practice
on Thursday at the regular time.
Parents Night: Please join us on September 2nd at
6:00 p.m. for Parents Night. This is an evening where
parents have the opportunity to meet their student’s
teacher and hear how their classrooms operate.
Edline: Edline is up and running. It is a way for parents
to check their child’s progress online. Please stop by
the office to get directions on setting up your account
and your activation codes.
Ice Breaker: Students who are on Ice Breaker will be
returning today at 3:30 p.m.
The Great Shirt Swap: Thank you very much for your
donations. We are doing very well on boy clothes. We
are still looking for little girl’s collared shirts. Please
contact the office if you are interested in passing them
on to another child.
Furry Friends: Parents please be aware that we are
no longer allowing pets in the school. We have a few
students who are very allergic and are trying to keep
them healthy.
Home and School: Just a reminder that tomorrow
September 1st is the first turn in date for the magazine
drive. Please don’t forget to turn in orders along with
payment.
If you have a canopy or sun shade you are willing to
let Home and School borrow for the Fall Festival
please contact Jasmin Williams at 303-219-4769.
Pathfinders: Sign up paperwork has been included in
your child’s Tues. folder. If your student is interested in
joining our ministry, please fill out the paperwork and
turn it into the office or Mr. Pauls by the end of the
week. If you don’t see it, please call Mr. Pauls @ 720-
883-6370 or Melinda Pauls @ 720-272-3251. Any
students age 10 or in the 5th grade, are eligible to join
and participate. We will have our first meeting on
Monday, Sept 13 after school.

Teacher Notes
Grades 1-2, Carisa Carr: The 1st Home Reading sheet
is due on Thursday. The 2nd grader’s have their first
spelling test on Friday. We are looking forward to
seeing you on Thursday night.
Grades 3-4, Nancy Hansen: Reading homework
starts this week. Please look in the Binder for all the
information on this. The Binder will have more and
more work in it, and occasional notes to parents.
Please check the Binder when it is sent home. I will
keep ongoing Social Studies and Science papers in the
binder. Please do not remove these. If your child
forgets his binder at home he will have a hard time
keeping up with the project at hand. Please make sure
the binder is returned everyday that it is sent home.
Tuesday Folders will be our binder’s this year.
Grades 5-6, Sandy Hodgson: Don’t forget Parents
Night this Thursday, September 2 at 6:00 p.m. There
will be general school information, hot lunch sign up (if
you haven’t done so yet), and break out sessions for
individual classrooms.
Grade reports are enclosed in today’s folder and
uploaded to Edline as well. If you do not have a code
to access grade reports online, please contact the
office.
We plan to tie dye (weather permitting) on
September 10. Let me know if you need help getting a
white t-shirt for your child. It doesn’t have to be new.
Monday, September 6 is Labor Day. No school!
Bob Dunkin: A very exciting day in B Band today:
Almost everyone finally had an instrument, and we all
played some exercises together!! PARENTS: Please
help your child remember to bring their instrument to
school every Monday and Wednesday.
Here’s a list of band related expenses for grades 5
and 6: reeds for clarinets and saxes, (3 for $5) and
either valve oil (brass-$4) or cork grease (woodwinds-
$2). Each student will be issued a method book at a
one-time cost of $10. These items will appear on your
monthly statement.
Every effort will be made to get uniforms ordered (for
grades 7-10 only) in time for Alumni Weekend,
September 11. However, in the event that the shipment
does not arrive on time, please plan on guys wearing
black pants and white dress shirt, girls wear a black
dress or as dark as possible. Guys and girls should
wear black shoes. Only grades 7-12 are participating.

FUNDRAISERS
A fundraising calendar will be distributed shortly so that
you know what is coming up and can decide in what
event you may want to participate.

Colorado Christian Cup 2010 – VRA’s annual golf
tournament for the Student Sponsorship Fund is being
held on Sunday, September 12. Breakfast/ registration
starts at 6:45 a.m., shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The
tournament will be held at Thorncreek Golf Club.
Prizes include an Audi A4, $10K, $5K, and domestic
roundtrip airfare for two, in addition to other great
prizes and giveaways! Pick up a registration form at
the front desk or call Cindy at 303-828-4944. COME
HAVE LOTS OF FUN WITH US! Please register by
September 1.
Peaches – The Class of 2011 will be taking orders for
boxes of freshly picked and juicy Palisade peaches
starting August 23 through September 3. The cost is
$24/box (21-22 lbs/box). The students need a
minimum order of 100 boxes for delivery. If minimum
order is achieved, the peaches will be delivered for
pickup and payment on Thursday, September 9 (8:00-
10:00; 1:00-5:30) and Friday September 10 (8:30 until
2:00 p.m.). PEACHES MUST BE PICKED UP AND
PAID FOR BY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10. THERE
ARE NO FACILITIES TO KEEP THEM THROUGH
THE WEEKEND. If you have trouble getting to VRA
for pick-up, please call Tony Wuerfel at 269-277-1226.
Fall Festival – Our Fall Festival is getting a facelift this
year! Our festival will be held outside on the fields at
VRA from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on September 26th. There
will be food, games, caramel apples and even a dunk
tank! You won’t want to miss this one! So, come
hungry and ready for lots of fun! This is a Home &
School sponsored event.
