Q.1. Explain:: i) Local and global coordinate system


ii) Rotation transformation matrix
iii) Boundary conditions'

Q.2. Explain how the overall stiffness matrix is developed for the given structure.

Q.3. Derive the element stiffness matrix for a four noded isoparametric plane stress element.
Derive the stiffness matrix for CST element.

Q.4. A continuous beam ABC is loaded as shown in fig. 3. It has constant flexural rigidity. Fixed
support at A, roller support at B & guided support at C. Analyse the beam using flexibility method

Q.5. Differentiate between structure Approach & member approach used in stiffness matrix
method. Explain how support conditions are accounted in both approaches.

Q.6. State importance of band width in stiffness analysis by computer and measures to keep it
minimum.
