A MILITANT teachers’ organization picketed the Department of Education-National Capital
Region (DepEd-NCR) office in Quezon City on Friday to call for the ouster of the principal of
Quezon City Science High School, who allegedly misused school funds.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT), along with Quezon City Public School
Teachers Association, held the protest after the filing of a complaint with the DepEd-NCR
against Dr. Zenaida Sadsad, for allegedly leaking the answers to Quezon City Science High
School’s entrance examination in exchange for money and for buying a van using school
funds.

“She [Sadsad] has colluded with the Brainworks Review Center. The entire Quezon City
Science High School academic community was very much disturbed by the ‘modus
operandi’ of Brainworks Review Center, students were ‘reviewed’ using the actual test
questions that were administered at the Quezon City Science High School entrance
examination and the 1st periodic examination for a certain sum of money,” Benjie Valbuena,
the group’s national chairman, said.

Valbuena said students who enrolled at Brainworks and paid the full amount of P25, 000
are assured of passing the entrance test and admission to the said high school.

“This is cheating. This is dishonesty. This will destroy the moral values, self-respect and
dignity of our students in the long run,” he said.

“Another anomaly is the purchase of a van using school funds without any public bidding
but which she later taken back by the car dealer,” Valbuena added.

The group also urged the DepEd-NCR to immediately act on the formal complaint filed
against Sadsad.

“This is not the first time Sadsad has been met with resistance from various sectors of
Quezon City Science High School. Back in 2009, students and alumni also protested after
Sadsad suspended four students for writing a blog which accused her of corruption and
mismanagement,” Valbuena further said.
