Kari Thacker has been both a bedside nurse and a relief Charge Nurse on my unit for four years. She
came here as new graduate and I have personally watched her move from novice to expert. Kari has the
ability to critically think both at the bedside and while being in charge of a 38 bed unit. She adjusts
staffing ratios, rounds on patients and serves as a sounding board for less experienced staff. Kari has
been a preceptor on many occasions, both for new staff and BSN capstone students. She was recently
promoted to a clinical level three nurse after submitting an excellent portfolio and is also nationally
certified in medical surgical nursing.
