USE OF COMPUTER SUPPORTED CONCEPTUAL CHANGE

TEXT (CSCCText) RELATED TO THE MATERIAL OF


MAGNETISM FOR A REMEDIAL TEACHING WHICH IS
ORIENTED IN REMEDIATION OF SMA STUDENTS’
MISCONCEPTION.
ABSTRACT
This research aims to explore the use of computer supported conceptual change
text (CSCCText) in a remadial teaching related to magnetism material for high
school students. The research is motivated by the high number of students’
misconceptions after they attend regular learning with teachers in their school.
This research aims to explore the use of computer supported conceptual change
text (CSCCText) in a remadial teaching related to magnetism material for high
school students. The research is motivated by the high number of students’
misconceptions after they attend regular learning with teachers in their school.
This research was carried out using a method of quasi-experiment with the
design of the matching only control group pretest-posttest. As a control
treatment is used in the form of conceptual change text (CCText). The subject of
the research is the students of 12th grade in one of the private high schools in
West Bandung regency. Subject was chosen by purposive sampling, that is
subject chosen with certain consideration. The research was carried out using a
method of quasi-experiment with the design of the matching only control group
pretest-posttest. Used as control treatment in the form of conceptual change text
(CCText). The subject of research is the XXI class students at a private HIGH
SCHOOL in one of West Bandung Regency. The subject chosen by purposive
sampling, i.e. the subject selected with certain considerations. The consideration
is because of the nature of learning that is done in the form of remedial
teaching, the subjects of the study were selected by the students who have
followed regular learning of magnetism materials with the teacher in the school
and tehy are identified misconception. In accordance with the research design
used research subjects are divided into two groups, namely the experimental
group and the control class, each group consists of more than 32 students. The
students’ conception before and after the activities of CCText and CSCCtext
was diagnosed by using magnetic conception test in three tier test format either
integrated in Cctext or CSCCText. The result of the research showed that the
use of CSCCText in a remedial teaching activity of magnetism material can
further decrease The quantity of students’ misconceptions and it can maintain a
consistency of the conception of scientific results than accommodation
compared with using CSCC Text.

The consideration is because of the nature of teaching which was done in the
form of remedial teaching, the subjects of the study were selected by the
students who have attended regular learning of the magnetism materials with
the teacher in the school and they were identified misconception. In accordance
with the research design used, the research subjects were divided into two
groups, namely the experimental group and the control group, each group
consists of more than 32 students. Implementation of CSCCText developed in
remedial teaching activities got positive responses from all students, they felt
that CSCCText that was used could change their conception related to the
concepts on the magnetism material. Their misconception or their lack of
conception turned into a scientific conception.
