Shell Projects & Technology (P&T) business provides technical services, technology capability and helps facilitate major
project delivery to both the Upstream and Downstream businesses of Royal Dutch Shell plc. The P&T office in Bangalore is
the third Shell global centre for technology after Houston, USA and Amsterdam, The Netherlands - delivering advanced
technical studies, projects and services for Shell around the world as well as supporting Shell activities in India.
P&T provides access to cutting-edge Indian talent and resources to Shell worldwide through its research and development
facilities in Bangalore. By the end of 2009, the Bangalore office has employed nearly 700 professionals and has plans to
grow to 1000 in the near future.
Shell Projects & Technology, Bangalore, is currently recruiting experienced professionals to join the exciting phase of
expansion it has undertaken in India

Responsibilities:

 The Heat Transfer Engineer will be working within the Regional Heat Transfer Equipment specialist group and
will primarily work with:
1. Internal customers within the Shell P&T organisation (Projects, Materials/Inspection, Mechanical, and
Process groups).
2. Customers within Shell and non-Shell Refineries, Chemical Plants, NG/LNG Plants, E&P sites,etc.
3. Engineering Contractors and Heat Transfer Equipment Manufacturers.
The Heat Transfer Engineer will have responsibility for design and/or changes to equipment.
 Heat Transfer Engineer is expected to be able to provide:
- Troubleshooting,de-bottlenecking and technical support for Un Fired equipment in operating plants,including
Shell and Tube Heat Exchangers,Air Coolers etc. this consultancy work includes site visits as well as desk
studies.
- Heat Exchanger operating data analysis and interpretations.
- Preparation of heat transfer equipment design (thermal,hydraulic,and mechanical).
- Project support / quality assurance.
- Guidance to technology development,design practices and procurement standards.
- Technical Assurance for projects and services within the Heat Transfer discipline.
- R&D activities in the field of heat transfer.
 The Heat Transfer Engineer is expected to have knowledge in the key discipline area and competencies as
indicated below:
- Develop, Design and Specify Air Coolers
- Develop, Design and Specify Heat Exchangers
- Evaluate and Troubleshoot Heat Exchangers
 The Heat Transfer Engineer shall also have knowledge in key competencies as per below:
- Delivers Results & Champions Customer Focus
- Analyses & Solves Problems
 The Heat Transfer Specialist is expected to deliver integrated solutions, that requires apart from the heat
transfer skills, a sound understanding of the processes in which the heat transfer equipment is applied and
understanding of the business environment.
 Although the Heat Transfer Specialist will work principally within one Region, colleagues within the Discipline
are located in three Regions. Activities such as alignment of technologies and methodologies, workload

sharing, and optimization can be challenging

Requirements:

 A Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university;


 Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience with minimum 4years of experience in unfired heat transfers.
 Good understanding of the physics of heat transfer and fluid flow, and a desire to specialize in the field of heat
exchangers;
 Plant assignments in Process, Reliability, Maintenance, or Mechanical areas will be an added advantage;
 Knowledge in mechanical design of heat exchangers and knowledge of PROII and HTRI software will be an
added advantage;
 Experience in the field of plant operations, control, and maintenance will be an added advantage;
 Delivers Results & Champions Customer Focus
 Analyses & Solves Problems
