New, Interactive WWII Exhibit

to be Installed at Naval & Military Park

Buffalo, New York–Over 50 superb examples of contemporary American marine art will be on display at
the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park as the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA)
brings its prestigious Blue Water/Still Water exhibition to Buffalo for one month beginning September 26,
2010. Honorary Co-chairs Stan Lipsey, publisher of the Buffalo News, and Dr. V. Roger Lalli,
international watercolor artist, are pleased and excited about an event of such renowned stature coming to
Western New York.

“Blue Water/Still Water is a must-see for anyone who loves the sea,” said Lalli. “It is a celebration of
America’s rich maritime history and brings together many of the most talented
and recognized contemporary artists in the marine field.”

The Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park will launch the exhibition on September 26, 2010
with a Gala Exhibition Opening. A VIP Reception for exhibition sponsors will start the festivities from
5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. with a preview of the artwork and a chance to meet and greet some of the artists and
over 100 business and civic leaders. A General Reception will follow from 6:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m.

Sponsorships and General Reception tickets are available through the Buffalo and Erie County Naval &
Military Park. Beginning September 27, 2010, the exhibition will be open to the public and included in
the price of admission for the park, open daily 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Blue Water/Still Water features over 50 two- and three-dimensional pictorials of quiet shorelines,
spectacular harbor views, and tumultuous seascapes in a wide array of mediums, including
oils, watercolors, pastels, scratchboard, pencil, sculpture and scrimshaw. “The emotion and luminous
light with which these pieces are presented and the national and international stature of these artists will
make this a rewarding experience for both viewers and collectors alike,” said Lipsey.

Founded in 1978, the American Society of Marine Artists’ purpose is to promote marine art and maritime
history and to encourage cooperation among artists, historians, marine enthusiasts and others engaged in
activities related to marine art and maritime history. With over 500 members nationwide, regional ASMA
exhibitions are presented every three to four years.
Naval & Military Park to Host Marine Art Exhibition (con’t)

The exhibition host, the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park, is the largest inland naval park
in the country and proudly stands as a tribute to all men and women who have served in the
armed forces, with special emphasis on Western New York veterans. Visitors
can tour a national historic landmark destroyer, a World War II submarine and the only guided
missile cruiser open to the public in the United States, view military artifacts such as tanks,
aircraft and memorabilia, and enjoy tours, simulator rides and overnight youth camping onboard
the USS Little Rock. Proceeds from the exhibition will benefit the preservation of the park.
