1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 SCOPE OF THE MANUAL
This manual contains the necessary information to enable trained personnel to use and maintain the T1000
Marine Fire Detection Controller.
1.2 OVERVIEW
The T1000 Marine Series of Fire Detection System of Controllers are available in 8 Zone and 16 Zone
versions. Each version provides the user with versatile Fire Detection Annunciation Features. The
controller’s User Interface is provided in the form of a pushbutton keypad, a 2-line LCD display and LED
indicators. The Controller monitors and reports its current status via its front panel and visual/audible
enunciators. The manner in which the controller responds to Fire Alarm and Fault conditions is a function
of the built in Cause and Effect Firmware. Up to 3 repeater panels may be connected to a T1000 Marine
Controller, refer to Annex A for repeater operation.

Due to display screen limitations only the highest priority information is displayed at any one instance
unless a user overrides the priority system by operation of the front panel pushbuttons. The priority is as
follows:
1) Access level-1 display priority:
a) Operator control requests - The T1000 Marine Controller obeys instructions and the front
panel displays the requested information; the information is displayed permanently as long
as no higher priority information currently exists, or for 20 seconds if higher priority
information exists, or momentarily if a monitored event occurs.
b) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) fire alarms.
c) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) technical alarms.
d) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) fault warnings.
e) Unacknowledged (not Accepted) system faults.
f) Acknowledged (Accepted) fire alarms.
g) Acknowledged (Accepted) technical alarms.
h) Acknowledged (Accepted) fault warnings.
i) Acknowledged (Accepted) system faults.
j) Disablement information.
k) Test mode information.
2) At access level-2 the display obeys operator instructions and only reverts to level 1 20
seconds after the last pushbutton operation irrespective of any other events.
Note: It is recommended that the operator requests a return to level 1 by operating the
“SYSTEM ACCESS” pushbutton twice rather than leaving the system at access level-2.

3.7 TECHNICAL ALARMS
In the cause and effect software zone inputs can be programmed to monitor alarm conditions which are
not fire, these are called Technical alarms.
Any detection zone going into the alarm condition causes the controller sounder to activate in the alarm
mode, the TECHNICAL ALARM LED to flash, the relevant zone PIXEL and MESSAGE on the
TECHNICAL ALARM screen to indicate and the relevant configured outputs to be activated.
To accept a TECHNICAL ALARM, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the
ACCEPT pushbutton. This silences the internal sounder and causes the TECHNICAL
ALARM LED to change from flashing to lit steady.
At this stage, should another detection zone go into alarm, the TECHNICAL ALARM LED will reflash,
the relevant zone PIXEL and MESSAGE on the TECHNICAL ALARM screen indicates and the
controller sounder and relay outputs are again activated. This alarm can be acknowledged in the same
manner as previously described.
Once the cause of the alarm has been investigated and removed, press the SYSTEM ACCESS
pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and then press the RESET pushbutton causing all detectors
and zones in alarm to be reset and the controller to return to the quiescent condition.

General
Fault finding on the T1000 Marine Fire Detection System is done using the Fault Screen. When a zone
fault is detected the FAULT WARNING LED will flash and the fault sounder operates.
Any zone going into a fault condition, ie short circuit, open circuit or detector removed, causes the
controller sounder to activate in the fault mode, the FAULT WARNING LED to flash, the relevant zone
PIXEL and MESSAGE on the FAULT screen to indicate and the common Fault output to be activated.
To accept the alarm, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the
ACCEPT pushbutton. This silences the internal sounder and causes the FAULT
WARNING LED to change from flashing to lit steady. At this stage, should a further fault
occur, the controller sounder is again activated in the fault mode and the FAULT
WARNING LED again flashes.
Note: Faults are latched until the controller is reset. (Operation of the reset control whilst a fault
condition prevails causes the audible and visual indicators to be re-activated).

Active Fault conditions are indicated by a solid block being set. Using the cursor LEFT or RIGHT
pushbuttons, move the underline cursor until it is under the block, the block will then flash and the
top line of the display will indicate the fault area, operating the CURSOR SELECT pushbutton
will display a detailed error code, the measured and expected zone values. The error code is represented
by one dot on the top line above the zone 1 to 6 positions having the meaning detailed below:
1) A dot above zone-1 indicates an open circuit condition has been detected, the left hand value
indicates the level measured and the right hand value indicates the normal quiescent level.
2) A dot above zone-2 indicates a quiescent condition, this will only be displayed if the
underline cursor is positioned above a healthy zone that is quiescent.
3) A dot above zone-3 indicates an alarm level-l condition, this will only be displayed if the
underline cursor is positioned above a healthy zone that has a level-1 alarm.
4) A dot above zone-4 indicates an alarm level-2 condition, this will only be displayed if the
underline cursor is positioned above a healthy zone that has a level-2 alarm.
5) A dot above zone-5 indicates a short circuit condition has been detected, the Left hand value
indicates the level measured and the right hand value indicates the normal quiescent level.
It should be noted that when a short circuit condition is detected by the controller that the
zone is open circuit at the controller to prevent unwanted controller loading and is only
resampled every few seconds. Therefore the controller oscillates between open and short
circuit fault codes whilst a short circuit persists.
6) A dot above zone-6 indicates a detector removed condition has been detected, the left hand
value indicates the level measured and the right hand value indicates the normal quiescent
level.

Any monitored output (output relays 5 to 8) going into a fault condition, ie short circuit or open circuit,
causes the controller sounder to activate in the fault mode, the FAULT WARNING LED to flash, the
relevant output PIXEL and MESSAGE to indicate on the Fault Page and the common fault output to be
activated. It should be noted that output faults are also indicated as an F on the Fire Page.
The detailed error code is
represented by one dot on the top line above the zone 1 to 13 positions having the meaning detailed as
follows:
1) A dot above zone-1 indicates an short circuit condition has been detected, the left hand
value indicates the level measured and the right hand value indicates the normal quiescent
level.
2) A dot above zone-2 indicates a quiescent condition, this will only be displayed if the
underline cursor is positioned above a healthy monitored output that is quiescent.
3) A dot above zone-3 indicates an open circuit condition has been detected, the left hand
value indicates the level measured and the right hand value indicates the normal quiescent
level.

System faults, ie Microprocessor Failures, are indicated by the SYSTEM FAULT LED.
When a processor reset occurs, the controller sounder is activated in the fault mode, the SYSTEM FAULT
LED flashes, the common FAULT LED lights steady and the common fault output is activated.
To accept a system fault, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the
ACCEPT pushbutton. This silences the internal sounder and causes the SYSTEM
FAULT LED to change from flashing to lit steady.
The SYSTEM FAULT and FAULT WARNING LED can be extinguished and the common fault output
reset by resetting the system, whereby the system returns to normal operation. Record processor resets in
the log book.
When a total processor failure occurs, the controller sounder is activated to produce a pulsing beeping
sound, the SYSTEM FAULT LED flashes, the FAULT WARNING LED flashes and the common fault
output is activated pulsing. In this state the system does not respond to alarm or fault conditions nor to
any operator controls. The service engineer should be contacted immediately.
When a system fault is detected the System Fault led will flash and the fault sounder will operate.
To accept a system fault, proceed as follows:
1) Press the SYSTEM ACCESS pushbutton, enter the user code (3456) and press the

These conditions will be sent to all repeaters that the controller recognises. If the controller does not
receive an acknowledgement from a repeater, it will enter a fault condition displaying the ID of that
repeater, the fault state will also be transmitted to all remaining repeaters.
A repeater also allows the following operations to be carried out as if entered at the controller:
1) Zone disabled
2) Supervised output in fault.
3) Panel accepted
4) Field silenced
5) Output disabled
6) Panel reset
7) System faults
8) Zone in test
9) Day / Night changes (not used in Marine configuration)
