Multiple Emergency Services agencies
responded to the incident which closed
the north bound lanes for approx. 10 hrs.
The incident involved 6 vehicles and
one pedestrian, a 35-year old male from
the Lower Mainland, who had stopped to
render assistance at the initial collision and
was struck and killed by another vehicle.
A 78-year old male with critical in-
juries was taken by air ambulance to
Kamloops, but his injuries have since
been down-graded to serious. Two other
people were transported to hospital with
minor injuries.
The cause of the collision is believed
to be speed relative to road conditions
and sudden changes in road condition in
shaded areas of the highway.
Central Interior Traffic Services (CITS)
RCMP, the Integrated Collision Analysis
and Reconstruction Service and the BC
Coroner’s Service continue to investigate
this collision.

Re: Sidewalks, again
Well said, Dave Crack. As a former
Collettville resident, I recall the carrot of
sidewalks being used to help sway us to
vote for amalgamation. I do not recall
being told the sidewalks would be such
a huge additional cost down the road.
And of course our taxes had already
made a gigantic leap to pay for sewer
and water, etc.
Dave's suggestions for reducing the
cost of said sidewalks seem to me very
sensible and practical. —Irma Starrs

the baby with the bath water. We do have
some people on council who work hard
and are honest.
Family Day will be
a Family

and the govt of the day decided on the
2nd Monday, even though it was incon-
sistent with other Canadian provinces
and the US.
Premier John Horgan announced that
starting next year, BC’s Family Day will
be moved to the 3rd week in February so
families across the country can celebrate
together.
