First I would like to say that I am honored to be nominated for this award. While I have only been with
Galveston College for just over one and a half years, I feel that I have accomplished quite a bit in my
short time.

Criminal Justice Program:

• Implemented Criminal Justice Dual Credit at Galveston Ball High School

o Face-to-face class at BHS 1st period
o Working with counselors to help future students meet college requirements in
reading/writing (TSI)
o Available to students at all times through Remind, Canvas and email
• Increase in enrollment at the college
o Recruit at local schools and police agencies
o Have shown continuous growth in the CJ program

• Advise current and future criminal justice students to keep them on a strong educational path.

Law Enforcement Academy:

• Rewrote and implemented new enrollment packets and cadet manual

• Implemented more testing to insure cadet success and retention of the material
• Built a strong advisory committee consisting of 12 members
• Coordinated with Alvin Community College to have the firearms portion co-taught with one of
my instructors
• Coordinated with La Marque Greyhound Dog Track for the Professional Police Driving, which
was taught by my instructors
• The overall average of the academy has not dropped below 80% since it started in August.
• The first full-time academy is scheduled to begin August 2018 with the surrounding agencies
providing the instructors free of charge (guest lecturers)
• Working with the local agencies to develop a training calendar for law enforcement officers

Additional Duties:

• Served as a member of the Curriculum Committee and Campus Safety Committee (2016/2017)
• Serve as Chair of the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (2017/2018)
