I. Objectives
 Determine the working application of a hydraulics platform.
 Familiarization of the components or equipment of a circuit diagram
 Design and draw a circuit diagram for a hydraulic platform.
 How to adjust the pace or speed of the piston movement of a double-
acting cylinder.

II. Introduction

Hydraulic platform uses hydraulic cylinders to either raise or lower platforms

for work, or other lifting devices. It is usually used for support, as well as lifting and
moving heavy and large objects to one place to another. at the same time providing
a safe environment that is ergonomically useful. Hydraulic platforms are mainly
used for loading, and positioning work objects, at times this can also use for
transporting personnel, if required. The kind of hydraulic lift or platform to be used
in a particular situation will depend upon the style of the platform, and its mounting
style, as well as the material that it uses. Commonly used types of hydraulic lifts
are table lifts, dock lifts, fork lifts, pallet lifts etc. he actual lifting movement is
performed by the hydraulic cylinder. These are arranged inside the scissors
structure so that the extending movement of the hydraulic cylinder is matched by
the lifting movement of the platform. The cylinder itself is powered by means of a
hydraulic pump (e.g. a gear pump). This in turn is powered by a small electric motor
contrast to the group of mechanical lift tables, the great advantage of hydraulic
lifting platforms is that the drive need not be activated for the lowering. The
lowering movement is brought about solely by the weight of the lift table and
possibly the weight of the load. This potential energy is sufficient to retract the
hydraulic cylinder.
III. Application

A hydraulic cylinder is to extend a platform at full speed. The platform is

loaded with drums of waste oil. When the operator releases the valve, the
retracting speed must be adjustable.

V. Components and functions
VI. Functions

Double Acting Cylinder – a cylinder that has a two port at each end by
moving the piston in a extend and retract action

4/2 Way Hand Lever Valve – Is used for the control of hydraulic flow rates
and is actuated manually. Also, it acts as the lever that makes the double
acting cylinder extend and retract.

Shut Off Valve – a valve where the oil flows regulate; it has a switch where it
can be off.

Pressure Gauge – an instrument to measure and indicate the pressure or

fluid intensity of the system.

Pressure Relief Valve – it protects the pump by regulating the pressure of

the medium coming to the system and limit the pressure in the system.

Hydraulic Power Pack – it is the power system of the hydraulics; Converts

the primary drive source into a hydraulic fluid flow. It is composed of a pump,
motor, pump, gauge, switch and etc.

One Way Flow Control Valve - The valve is used to influence the
volumetric flow rate through an adjustable throttle point, in one direction.
VII. Procedure

1.) Lay out the different sizes of hose to be use in the experiment. And even

prepare the pressure release key in case needed

2.) Set up the components based on the circuit diagram. Familiarization of

the components must be applied

3.) Make sure the hose of the pneumatic circuits is snog and tight for safety

purposes.

4.) Released and discharge of fluid must observe to prevent overloading.

5.) Apply the previous component such as 4/2-way lever

6.) Place the one-way flow control valve based on the circuit diagram

7.) Observe the adjustment speed of the piston using the adjustment numb

or the one-way control valve it must be fast at forward motion and slow

at returning position.

8.) For checking you can adjust the speed either vice versa slow at forward

motion but in return motion piston cylinder becomes slower

9.) Observe how lifting motion of hydraulics is produced the lifting force

speed of the piston is the main goal or agenda of this experiment.

IX. Evaluation

In this experiment, our group design a hydraulic system for a lift by using a
one-way flow control valve. The components use in this application is the same as
the previous components such as double acting cylinder, 4/2-way hand lever valve,
pressure relief valve, shut off valve and etc., except the added component as the
one-way flow control valve where it controls the volumetric flow rate through a
throttle a throttle which controls the speed of the volumetric flow. It can adjust the
speed of the extension and retraction of the cylinder.

X. Conclusion

Therefore, I conclude that a hydraulic lift operates by a Hydraulic

system which make the platform base lifted. It is operated by a hand lever

valve where once you tilt the piston cylinder extracts to its extension and

the piston will retracts automatically when you returned the lever to its

position. I also concluded that by loosening the throttle of the one-way flow

control valve may adjust the speed of the piston faster. The one-way flow

control valve may connect in the both side of the double acting cylinder or

vice versa you can control both doth direction and can control the forward

and returning speed of the piston.
