INFO 3280 – Information Technology and Project Management

Course Project

OVERVIEW
For the term project in this course, you will be required to work in groups. Each group should
have 5 students. Together, you will find a client, discuss with him/her to start a IT project,
prepare written project documents and make a presentation to the class with slides. The report
should include all analytical and design results, including all related forms and text
descriptions. The final presentation should be 30 minutes in length, and involve all the group
members. As part of project management, you will need to evaluate the contribution of all
team members and agree on the percentage of each member’s work. (The overall percentage
for each project will be 100%)

TOPIC PROPOSAL

You need to create your team and find a suitable client and topic first. The topic proposal
should include:

1. Client: The person or organization for whom the system is being created.
2. Project Description: A description of the proposed project, its objectives and scope
of content. If the scope is very large, try and pick a sub-project that could be expanded
on with additional work beyond the terms of the project.

A team needs to submit one topic proposal to moodle system in PDF format before Feb 13,
2018 @ 10:00 am. You need to receive my approval before you proceed to the next step.

DOCUMENT DELIVERABLES
To main task for the project is to create the report, which will be a complete set of documents
for the proposed project. The final report should contains all the information regarding the
project selection, company strategy, company culture, project definition, time and cost
estimation, project plan, risk management, and resource scheduling. In short, you will need to
conduct the project through defining and planning stages.

A team should submit one final report to moodle system before April 9, 2018 @ 10:00 am.

PRESENTATION

Be prepared to present your project using the data projector at the front of the class during
last week. (Each group has about 30 minutes)
