5. Conclusion

Based on the cause, effect and prevention of desertification that has been explained
now can be concluded that the main factor of desertification is because of human
itself. People tend to do many things to improve the quality of life in various aspects
such as social, economic, political and other things. But with this improvement,
people at the same time caused a massive damage to the environment.

Desertification that happens due to human activities causes a lot of problem to

people. It makes farming become impossible, vegetation lacked and damaged,
flooding and water quality become poor. As a result, overpopulation happens when
people starting to move to the new area and food scarcity also happen since lack of
resources. Poverty also occurred and increases, because all the effect of
desertification may lead to poverty if not kept in check. People will not getting any
income if they can't farm and they also will suffer from great loss or not get any
profit if vegetation is lacked or damaged. Then, flooding also will cause the
population to either migrate or rebuild their home which both involve in high cost.
People must avoid desertification, so that these problems will not happen at our
place.

We can stop desertification by doing some action such as planting more trees and
perennials, build the great green wall, use recycle coffee sacks and modified sweet
potato. This idea actually can help people in many ways in order to prevent
desertification. It can prevent erosion which can destroy the land, improve soil
fertility, treat the fragile dry land habitat, and supply food to the people. Education
also can help us to prevent desertification because it helps people to understand
the best way to use the land, so they can avoid things that will damage the land
that they are farming on.

We should stop desertification by taking action to prevent it. If, we let desertification
happen, people will find difficulty to access food, the living standard in the place
desertification happens also difficult to be improved and land erosion is difficult to
recover, so avoid erosion is important. The most important thing is we should
always remember that there are many other species that living in this world. Nelson
Mandela once said “we can change the world and make it a better place. It is in your
hand to make a difference”. So it is actually our responsibility to stop or avoid
desertification from happen in order to create a better place for all creature in this
world.
