requirements, we make an attempt to serve the society by providing Basics as well as
advanced level of knowledge/training in the field of IT/ Computer Science. This will
enhance the level of aspirants, who wish to serve the society as well as will fulfill the
industrial needs of the days to come. So that tomorrow will be better than today.

DATABASE CONCEPTS
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Prerequisites: None
This course introduces database design and creation using a DBMS product. Emphasis is
placed on data dictionaries, normalization, data integrity, data modeling, and creation of
simple tables, queries, reports, and forms. Upon completion, students should be able to
design and implement normalized database structures by creating simple database tables,
queries, reports, and forms.

Duration: 2 months
Course Hours per Week: 2 sessions and each session 2 hours.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

 Create an Entity-Relationship Diagram to describe a database.

Proposal for a short term computer course


Structure of program: The structure of this program is organized in 3 various
levels to meet the industry needs of a student. Basic level deals with Fundamentals of
IT and computing which contains managing professional documents using office,
creating & maintaining data bases intermediate level deals with hardware &
networking concepts on windows & Linux platforms. At the advanced level the student
is learned with client server & java technologies and object oriented analysis & design.
Course Description: Basic level: Fundamentals of IT and computing this
program addresses the need to understand the world of business and the world of
computer applications in an organized way. It introduces students to the exciting world of
IT and the associated services. This program is intended for those who are willing to
enhance their career by using the office productivity tools and different technologies and
applications used for storing and reporting information. This program will make a student
acquainted with various database concepts and implementation.
Intermediate level: Hardware and Networking domain which is amongst the
highest paying and fastest growing domain in IT sector. Significant talent shortage in the
Networking space has opened up multiple career options for aspiring students and
professionals. Student is trained with assembling, trouble shooting of PC, installation &
configuring of windows, Linux operating systems.
Advanced level: At this level the student is learned with java technologies, client
server computing using RMI, BDK, creating sockets for client server computing using
Linux .At last the student makes expertise in doing the projects by using object oriented
analysis and design concepts.
Duration of the course:
This course is divided in 3 months consisting of 4 weeks in each month. One month for
each level. Each level is trained with lectures and practical work.

Basic Level: Fundamentals of IT and Computing


Week 1
1. I.T Fundamentals and Computing
 Work with various components of the Microsoft Office Word.
 Create a document.
 Edit documents by locating and modifying text.
 Add tables to a document.
 Add graphic elements to a document.
 Proof documents to make them more accurate.
 Control a document's page setup and its overall appearance.
Week 2
2. Creating and Managing Professional Documents Using Office Word .
 Work with various components of the Microsoft Office Word 2007 environment.

4.Creating and Managing Presentations Using Office PowerPoint
 Work with PowerPoint environment.

 Add text and apply themes to a presentation.

5.Designing and maintaining databases.

6. Oracle 10g: Introduction to SQL Ed 3


 Identify the major structural components of Oracle Database 10g.
 Retrieve row and column data from tables with the SELECT statement .
 Create reports of sorted, restricted and aggregated data.
 Run DML statements to update data in Oracle Database 10g.
 Obtain metadata by querying the dictionary views.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:
The course is a performance based module for learners to become proficient
with Microsoft Office and designing tools like flash and Photoshop, for the purpose: of
either enhancing the learner’s present employment position or exhibiting skills to seek
new employment or to enhance their knowledge. The performance based objectives
specifications are a list of criteria the learner must meet to complete the assignment.
The criterion is embedded in each Learning Outcome. The performance objectives will
clearly communicate the instructional goals. The meta-cognitive performance skills help
to determine growth and development of the learner. Each learner is provided a
computer and the necessary job aids to complete the learning outcomes.
Introduction to Personal Computing System
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate practical knowledge and use of the Windows operating system.
2. Demonstrate best practices in file management procedures.
3. Demonstrate basic knowledge navigations.
4. Demonstrate the mechanics of creating a Word document.

Microsoft Word
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate basic knowledge navigating the Word Ribbon Interface.
2. Demonstrate the basic mechanics of creating Word documents for office use.
3. Demonstrate introductory formatting techniques and presentation styles.
4. Demonstrate working knowledge of producing a mail merge.
5. Demonstrate the mechanics and uses of Word tables to organize and present data.
6. Demonstrate working knowledge of using Word’s themes and clip art to create a
variety of visual effects.
7. Demonstrate working knowledge of Word’s advanced formatting techniques and
presentation styles.

Introduces the workings and concepts of relational databases in Microsoft Access,
including select queries, forms and reports
Upon successful completion of this course students will be able to:
