How to Use FortiGuard’s AntiSpam Service

The FortiGuard Antispam service uses both a sender IP reputation database and spam signature
database to detect and block a wide range of spam messages. FortiGuard AntiSpam is updated
regularly to ensure constant protection for your FortiMail system.

This recipe details how FortiGuard AntiSpam operates and guides you through the
process of integrating FortiGuard AntiSpam into FortiMail.

Connecting to FortiGuard AntiSpam Service

To connect FortiGuard AntiSpam services


Note: You must have a service contract before you can use the service.

1.  Go to Maintenance > ForitGuard > Antispam in the advanced mode of the web UI.

 2.  Select the Enable service radio button under the FortiGuard AntiSpam Options section.

Note: Optionally, you can select the Use override server address radio button if you have a local
server and you desire a faster connection.

 3.  Select the enable cache radio button and enter a value in the textbox below. 

4.  Verify the connection by typing an IP address or URL into the FortiGuard Query textbox and
selecting the Query button.

5.  Select Apply.

Creating an Antispam Profile

Once you’ve connected to the FortiGuard services, you’ll need to create an antispam pro៛�le.

 1.  Go to Pro le > AntiSpam > AntiSpam.

 2.  Select New.

 3.  Enable the FortiGuard checkbox under the Scan


Con gurations section.

 4.  Select Create.

Using the Antispam Profile in a Policy

To enable your newly created antispam Pro៛�le.

1. Go to Policy > Policies.

 2.  Select New under the IP Policies or the Recipient Policies section.

 3.  Select your newly created pro៛�le from the AntiSpam


dropdown menu in the Pro៛�les section.

 4.  Select Create.
