Hi,

I’m am very interested in the Strathclyde research opportunity offered this summer that focuses on the
Scotland’s smart grid and electric power system. I am a 2nd-year semester M.S. student at Case Western
Reserve University who has been studying primarily electrical power systems and control engineering.

My background before starting my M.S. program was as an electrical engineer for a start-up medical
device company where I led a lot of the research and product testing for our medical device. During this
role I became very apt at prioritizing the importance of tasks that needed to be accomplished, setting
out how to appropriately test and improve device deficiencies, and documenting all test results and
conclusions drawn that prompted modifications to the device.

Anyway, after my stint at as an engineer at a medical device company, I decided to pivot my career and
now have been more focused on power systems and control engineering during my graduate program
at Case. I’ve have already taken most of the courses related to these fields and have become very
familiar in power system engineering, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I have applied much of my
knowledge to small-scale circuits I have built such as regenerative braking circuits, buck-boost power
supply circuits, and a frequency multiplier circuits. Overall, I think I would be a good fit for this position
and would love the research opportunity to apply further what I have learned.
