Geary Wrestling Heads to Dual State

On Wednesday, January 18,
at around 2 p.m., the Town of
Geary lost power.
The only light, a flashlight,
in Stegall-Long Fieldhouse at
4 p.m. is coming from the
Nelson-Base wrestling room.
There’s no sound of basket-
balls dribbling or the squeak-
ing of sneakers. The basketball
court is quiet, practice is can-
celed.
The only sound is the beat-
ing of feet on the mat and the
occasional thud of knees hit-
ting the floor.
The Geary Bison wrestling
team is practicing. They had
just gotten back from a 5-mile
run around the entire town.
Then it was back to work in
the wrestling room to drill in
the dark. No time for breaks.
This is only a taste of the
hard work this team has put in
over the past few weeks
preparing for Dual State on
Friday-Saturday, February 10-
11.
“The electricity went out,
and we’ve still got to find a
way to improve,” coach Matt
Kennedy said. “We also ran
