international passengers. London's 43 universities form the largest concentration of higher
education institutions in Europe.
-Places to go:
Tower of London: Tower of London has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
One of the most famous castle keeps in the world, it was built to awe, subdue and terrify
Londoners and to deter foreign invaders. It’s now an iconic symbol of London and Britain and
one of the world’s premier tourist attractions.
There, you can see important historical objects, such as crown jewels, royal beasts and all
kinds of armory.

Tower of London foi designada como uma "World Heritage Site" - A UNESCO World Heritage
Site is a place (such as a forest, mountain, lake, desert, monument, building, complex, or city)
that is listed by the UNESCO as of special cultural or physical significance..

RIPLEY’S BELIEVE IT OR NOT!: Did you know of a place where it is possible to touch a piece of
the Berlin Wall? Or read manuscripts of Agatha Christie? How about standing in front of the
world’s tallest man? Well, Believe it, because at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! London you can do
exactly that and much more!
Touring the globe, Robert Ripley collected many astounding artifacts and recorded some of the
most unusual sights; proving that the world’s greatest oddities could be joined and celebrated
together all under one roof, for everyone to see.

From children to adults, couples to families, young to old: there is something for everyone in
amongst the five floors and the 500 exhibits. Admire the beauty of Marilyn Monroe whilst
observing genuine items that once belonged to the blonde bombshell herself.

Mirror Maze
The mirror maze challenge provides family friendly entertainment that will appeal to children,
teens and adults alike. The maze consists of a series of columns and arches surrounded by
hundreds of mirrored reflections in every direction. The floor lighting enhances the "infinity
effect" by giving the illusion of continuing hallways, when in fact you may be at a dead end!
The more participants in the maze, the more confusing it is. See hundreds of reflections of
yourself in every direction. The mirror maze challenge is to "get lost" and find your way out
again. Backwards or forwards, it's never the same experience twice!
Shakespeare’s Globe
Shakespeare’s Globe is a faithful reconstruction of the open-air playhouse first built in 1599,
where Shakespeare worked and for which he wrote many of his greatest plays. The
reconstructed Globe opened in 1997.

Exhibition & Theatre Tour

Shakespeare's Globe Exhibition & Theatre Tour is the world's largest visitor experience
devoted to Shakespeare and the London in which he lived and worked. Based under the Globe
Theatre, the engaging and informative Exhibition explores the remarkable story of the Globe,
and brings Shakespeare's world to life using a range of interactive displays and live
demonstrations.

Some Traditional London Pubs

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in Fleet Street has stood on the same spot for centuries. The historic
pub had to be rebuilt after the Great Fire of London in 1666. Its dark, gloomy interior has
hosted many famous figures including, reputedly, Charles Dickens, Dr Samuel Johnson and Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle.

Prospect of Whitby
One of London's most famous pubs, the Prospect of Whitby dates from 1543. The Thames-side
tavern developed a reputation as a meeting place for smugglers and villains, and later became
the favourite pub of "Hanging" Judge Jeffries. According to legend, criminals would be tied up
outside and left to drown as the tide came in.

The Dog and Duck

The Dog and Duck is housed in a Grade II listed building in the heart of Soho. The well-
preserved Victorian décor provides all the atmosphere you would expect in a historic London
pub. Tiles and mirrors line the ornate interior and there is a small bar upstairs that's perfect for
people-watching in the street below.

Famous movies
Although England has not been quite as famous as Hollywood in producing blockbuster films,
at least not in the popular imagination, the 10 most famous English movies have made a
substantial impact on the film industry, including and especially Hollywood. If you want to get
a taste of the most famous English movies, then be sure to check out any of the following
films.

"Monty Python and the Holy Grail":This film, from the most famous group of funnymen in
comedy, is not only one of the most famous English films, but also one of the funniest. With
its mix of absurdity and quirky British humor, you're guaranteed to be on the floor with
laughter after watching this famous English movie.
"Billy Elliot": This stirring famous English film tells the story of the son of a miner, who wishes
for nothing more than to become a professional dancer. With its emotionally satisfying
ending, and the excellent casting (Julie Walters, famous for the “Harry Potter” films, has a
starring role), this is a very famous English picture that was later adapted into a popular
musical by Sir Elton John.

"The Last King of Scotland": If you like your English movies bloody and terrifying, then look no
further than this film. "The Last King of Scotland"depicts the tyrannical regime of dictator Idi
Amin, from the viewpoint of his fictional Scottish doctor. Be aware, however, that this film is
not at all for the faint of heart.

"Elizabeth": This splendid and resounding historical drama, featuring the wonderful acting
talent of Cate Blanchett, tells the story of the early part of Queen Elizabeth I’s reign. With its
mixture of powerful emotions, convoluted political twists, and gritty realism (although not
historical accuracy), this is one famous English movie that should not be missed.

"Goldfinger": If you’ve heard of just one famous English movie, this would probably be it. It's
one of the most successful installments of the ever-popular James Bond franchise. With the
powerful presence of Sean Connery in the lead, it’s small wonder that this has gone down as
one of the most famous English movies.
