The Hubble Space Telescope is a imaging device that captures photos of the solar system around
our earth. The Hubble space telescope is named after Edwin P. Hubble a famous astronomer who
expanded the worlds knowledge of space and is credited with proof of the big bang theory. The
length of the telescope is 43.5 feet long and has a diameter of 14 feet. The Hubble belongs to a
low orbiting order hovering above earth at 350 miles above earth’s surface and is at a 28.5
degree angle toward the equator. On April 24, 1990 the space shuttle discovery released one of
the most successful satellites that ever orbited the earth Hubble Space Telescope. The telescope
was released to capture photos of stars, planets, and galaxies all from orbiting earth at 17,000
mph. Hubble has successfully committed over 1.3 million observations since 1990.
