Logical Fallacies Instructional Outline
Logical Fallacies Instructional Outline
Introducing the Concept
Using the paragraph “on Logical Fallacies” as an outline (if you want to), introduce the
concept of logical fallacies, their place in politics, and the importance of identifying them as they
are made.
2. Ask for questions from the class
There will be a few, and but avoid using the examples from the game later on as
explanations, given that would undermine the entire point
3. Hand out Examples
We have provided a few examples of logical fallacies, with descriptions, conversations in
which the fallacies are committed, and breakdowns of those conversations. Distribute copies of
these to the class and have students read and discuss them. Possibly call for questions.
4. Play game.
The game we have created is based around matching logically broken quotes, to the
fallacies they commit, we hope this format would help the information stick with the students a
little more.
5. Reflect
Have students reflect on their learning with a journal.
