SMALL BUSINESS’ SHOCKING INDICTMENT ON TURNBULL’S NBN
According to reports, a new survey by ASX-listed Reckon has revealed a staggering
83 per cent of small business lack confidence in the delivery of Turnbull’s second-
rate NBN.
54 per cent of small business also believe they will be left behind as the digital
economy develops with technology infrastructure given as a key barrier to starting
new business.
This follows a survey by the NSW business chamber which reported 43 per cent of
businesses surveyed were either dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with the NBN
This is a damning indictment on Turnbull’s NBN and a stark warning to NBN Co.
In a week when NBN Co announced new products aimed at supporting large
business, more needs to be done to cater to Australia’s small business community.
Local publisher and web designer, Tim Brand waited over three years from the date
given by the NBN for his business to be connected. Mr Brand estimated that this
delay cost him thousands of dollars in potential business.
“I was initially promised my business NBN connection to be finalised by late 2013.
Ultimately, I spent tens of thousands of dollars in alternate internet arrangements to
ensure my business remained viable and waited until late 2016 for the NBN to finally
be connected,” Mr Brand said.
With the emergence of 5G services, the NBN’s continued poor performance will only
increase the risk of more households and business abandoning the network.
The Government must get their act together and improve the reputation of the NBN
with Australian business.

Quotes attributable to Anne Charlton:

“Today’s report will reveal the ugly truth about the Turnbull Government’s disastrous
roll out of the NBN.”
“Locals only get a sense of dread when they receive the letter to tell them they
would need to connect to NBN because it’s a poor service delivery with an outdated
technology”
“Turnbull’s NBN roll out is simply creating a divide between those who have and
those who haven’t got the original NBN.
“Small businesses and families across the Coast have suffered missed
appointments, chronic technical issues, disconnections and in some cases, slower
speeds than their previous ADSL.”
“The truth is Malcolm Turnbull and Lucy Wicks have given us all a dud”.
