And the family authority is egalitarian. There are no presences of any obvious or readily

or dinner. While Romeo Clores spends most of his income to his own family first, that is, his

The eldest son Mandy Laderas doesn't reside in the house but is second in command on
authority, he also makes decisions for the family, since he is just their neighbour. The family are
not involved in any particular acivities in the community.

C) Home and Environment

The housing structure has two floors the first floor is made up of concrete walls and floor and
the second floor is made up of wooden walls and ceiling. It has 2 rooms, a toilet and a kitchen.
The area of the house is around 4 x 2.5 meters approximately. Marjorie Laderas said that "
komportable at makakatulog naman kami ng maayos sa bahay". They have adequate living space
for her perception, but the standard living space for 1 person is 6 square meters. Therefore they
have inadequate living space. The whole family except Mandy sleeps in the same room together.
They have a pet dog named 'naruto' and there are vectors in the house, i.e., mosquitos and
cockroaches. The dog is not any trouble and had shots for rabies. Marjorie said "hindi naman
siya nangangagat, tahimik lang siya lagi". There are no presences of any accidental hazards.
They don't store any food because it is mostly bought in carinderias, Marjorie said "Inuubos
naming ang mga pagkain binibili namin, kasi po baka puntahan ng mga ipis o daga". They use a
gas stove and a charcoal operated stove, which is outside the house, for their kitchen facilities.
They buy purified water for their drinking water, as for other usage of water like bathing;
washing etc. they fetch water from the water pump 10 metres away from their house. They have
their own toilet but its flush handle is broken so they flush it manually. Their drainage system is
clean and it's frequently sprayed to prevent dengue. The neighbourhood is congested. The nearest
health facility is the Fabella Center at Fermin St., but the family prefers to consult to Pedro Gil
Hospital at Pedro Gil due to their belief that the physicians in Fabella centre are not qualified
enough. They ride on pedicabs and jeeps, whenever the family goes out for shopping, bonding
and to get to their work place.

Prevention

All children and adults of Laderas family have complete vaccination. There are no
specific lifestyles that they follow to be healthy. Marjorie said that all of them get enough
time of sleep but they do not practice any healthy activities such as exercising, which will
contribute to their health. For the protective measures, they use slippers or shoes when
going outside the house but when they are just inside the house they are barefoot. When
they sleep they don’t use bed nets but only the fan is turned on for comfortable sleep.
And also Marjorie stated that “Wala naman narereport na dengue dito sa amin kaya
electric fan lang and gamit naming.” In management of stress or relaxation, they watch
TV or walk around the shopping areas. They don’t use or apply any promotive-preventive
health services.
